How do you get that nice seam in the middle??
I mean it's got a nice finish on it - this is what mine looks like:I did what others told me, sewed the curve together.

This is a complicated question, but if you want cheap you need to find an old singer machine on Craigslist or Facebook in your area. There are a lot of threads about this on here. A lot of us use singer 15's, 99's and 200's from the 1940s-1960s or their japanese "clone" counterpartsAnybody have a recommendation for a cheap "thread inserter" that can handle sewing through the tough materials used for these types of saddles?
Thanks! Looking through that thread I see a TON of issues. Guess I could try to find an older one, but the trouble of finding replacement parts if something is broken seems to be a huge source of frustration for a lot of the replies. How's your "antique" holding up?
Did you just happen to stumble across it at the thrift store or something?Yea don't over complicate it. Mine is great and I got it for 30 bucks. @bj139 has like 1,500 of them or so. They are pretty robust
