DIY Utilibridge

It was right around 40", maybe a tad shorter. To be honest, not sure what the finished length was because I trimmed some. I did the 1st bury about half way and compensated for what was needed on the other so the tails are full bury, or as close to it as I could get. Not perfect, but very close. The prussic loop is 9-10" in diameter.

So when you guys are making the continuous loop for the prussic, are your tails buried so that the prussic piece has that doubled thickness like the 1/4 inch utilibridge?

Also do you guys have any problems with your buries working there way out? Seems like when the continuous loop isn't loaded the buries work out pretty easily

Do a locked brummel and then do a full bury of both tag ends. Should be no way for the buries to come out this way

My first utilibridge, thanks to everyone on here. I prefer to run a biner on mine. Just like to clip it out of the way while walking in.

Sorry if this has been answered before... I AM CHEAP and DIYing my own saddle. I am wondering if anyone has used the Muddy Safe-Line as a bridge? It is good enough for a fall arrest system it should be good for a bridge right?!?

Thanks in advance!

You could use it. If its a few years old and has been put through the elements some I'd think twice about it. I snagged some of this off amazon and used it all season as my bridge.

Thank you for your answer! I have only used it twice, carried in and out both times for total use of around 6 hours. I will give it a shot for a bit, plus never know how this is going to turn out any way... So might be ok to save some money.

For the bridge could you not do a dog bone and meet in the middle There might be a one inch piece in the middle not buried
You could girth hitch one end and hook the other to your lineman’s belt with the prussic in between

Are you thinking of making the dog bone and attaching it to your saddle and then attaching the prussic to that? I was going to do that with extra long bury and a 28 inch dogbone (end to end) with 1 normal bury and an extra long bury on the prussic side.

I just haven't had any time to fabricate another saddle and get this done.

Yes, I am trying to decide what to do. With a dogbone you could girth hitch one end or use a carabiner and you can secure the tag end as well.
Even if there is a soft spot in the middle I don't think it will be a problem. The prussic may just slide past that spot.

You could also disconnect one side and slide it through a tree squeeze to widen the attachment point to the tree. This would eliminate all hip pinch IMO> you could also use it that way to spur up if you use spurs. I was thinking it would make uncomfortable saddles more comfortable.
