Elk season; 1 month out!!

Got an invite last night. Guys buddy backed out. Here's the catch....I've never met him. The guy I have went with in the past dropped my name as the only one he knew that would have the gear, the time, and the ability. Quite humbling.
We'd be bow hunting. I haven't done much research but he's on it. Today we may talk logistics. It's a big commitment for sure. I need to make some decisions, and quick.

Are you driving? If so you’ll have a pretty good handle on things by the time you get there after a cross country trip
 
Probably drive out with him if I can swing it. Fly back on the 27th of September just in time to go to Oceans Calling in OC MD for the weekend.

He's early 50's, I'm 47. Good fit there. That and apparently he's got some areas where he's found public access around some private honey holes. Too small for four hunters, perfect for two.

paying attention to this thread. hoping to do an OTC Elk in 2024 but I'm not sure where to start since it would be my first elk and my first out of stater that isn't a border state to me.
 
Had our first conversation.....only took about an hour. Great guy. Been all over. His resume is deeper than mine for sure. He has 10 yrs on me and knows the ropes. Working out some logistics tomorrow.

I can't believe this is happening.

Shot a few broadheads today. Grim Reaper Micro Hades 4 blade and Iron Will Wide. The two heads fly well but both show tune issues quick. Both hitting with field points at 60 yards. Have to finalize my tape next. Getting close.

September 2 is the best day of the year here in Colorado!! So close. I’ll be fighting the holiday crowd for the opener then will take a few days off while the woods empty out. Good luck to you all.
