Im no frequent flyer. I have my saddle, and a platform from a lone wolf. Anyone have issues with TSA flying with this gear? I was also looking to prep my undergarments using carbon synergy and putting in plastic vacuum bags, will they rifle thru this and touch my prepared clothing?

They may!! You never know with TSA they sometimes can be a pain and then other days they don’t pay attention. I was in the security industry for close to 15 years until about a year and half ago. Trust me there are many professionals and then many who just look professional. To be honest its always best to call and double check with them and the airline you use. Make sure you have TSA approved luggage especially for bows and firearms. The baggage guys are not the most graceful and things just get tossed around.

I have never had a problem traveling with equipment. Make sure bow is in a hard case. Dont seal your clothes up though as they might go through your stuff and they will rip open the bags. I would put TSA approved locks on bow and other bags too. Maybe keep saddle with you in carry on so you will always have it. Hope this helps.

I would say if anything a bunch of vac sealed stuff makes a search more likely as that is common drug packaging. You can certainly check in rubber totes if you believe in the scent control deal.

I've flown to a couple elk hunts and I try to carry on every expensive and essential items I legally can. If they lose my checked bags I want to get up and running at cabelas for a grand or so. Plan for the worst. Pack clothes in your bow case for extra padding.

I travel back to WI for hunting (and Thanksgiving) every year. I've never had many issues with traveling other than locks on cases. Make sure you have a TSA approved lock for all of the lock holes on the case. I was told the case for any weapon cannot be pried open. So they said I needed a lock on both corners and in the middle of the opening side. I always bag my ScentLok and other cloths for the flight but expect to have to re-dry it when I get there as well as washing the other cloths.

slightly on topic - anyone flown with thermacell before? can you fly with the device and/or the bottles?

If not - Missouri guys - do you have thermacells in your sporting goods stores?

I'm flying into st. louis for a scouting trip at the end of September. Hard bow case, and one checked suitcase. Plan on having camera/saddle/release/rangefinder/binoculars and as much stuff as will fit in my backpack on the plane with me.

Keep the advice coming

I flew home with the thermacell after saddlepalooza. I chucked the bottle before I checked in to be safe, my interpretation was that it was not allowed.

I have flown with rifles bow and arrows thermacell knives and tinks 69 larry. Never any trouble till last year out of Orlando. I asked while checking my bow in at the airport. Do you want me to open it I ask. Nope your all set says the X-ray TSA guy Get home to Hartford CT. No bow. Go to baggage claim. They have it with all the locks cutoff. It has been searched thoroughly but nothing’s missing. Just pissed me off cuz I asked if they needed me to open the case.
