For those 2 panel-ers

How long are these taking to get to you guys and are you getting shipping info or anything? I ordered mine on December 22 and I've got nothing, no shipping info, no saddle. The place is just an hour down the road from me. Not complaining just figured would at least have some shipping info by now.
Shouldda drove your a$$ on over, have a cup of coffee with em...

Are you a sitter or leaner? It seems to be that the upper band doesn't give a lot of support for leaners.
Primarily a leaner. I’d say 70/30 spilt. You are correct in not a lot of support. I don’t have a problem with that but others may.

Curious if u had a 2 panel saddle before this one?

I noticed quite a bit of support with this saddle. I did notice you have to make sure its up on your back and that the waist belt is snug. If those are loose, i dont think the back support will work.

Hanging this morning in a strong leaning tree on the bottom side of the lean and I cant get comfortable to save my life leaning, sitting was fine. Rough shake right now, gonna give it some time maybe I can find the sweet spot. It was a joy to climb with and the lineman’s belt connection with the waist belt felt very secure.

This seems to happen a lot. I get my hopes up in the back yard then take it to the woods and can’t get comfortable. I’ll let ya know what if anything I figure out.

Whats not comfortable? Hip pinch?

Yea hip pinch but not the kind I usually get from a saddle. This is more from the bottom section squeezing me. So I climbed down and hung from a tree on the ground that was more straight and it again feels comfortable again. I’m thinking at that steep of a angle on the hanging side of the tree all the weight was in the saddle. You still feel a slight squeeze but it isn’t uncomfortable. This more what I expected.

Sitting is still pretty comfortable.

I did run my lineman’s belt through my tether carabiner and brought it tight and that gave me support in the lower back. It seems similar to the old trophyline in that way.

Lineman's loops to tether adjustment for comfort.

Good idea!

It’s very comfortable rope climbing SRT or DRT. It does feel like it prefers you being more at a perpendicular to the tree if that makes senses. It makes sense to me since it’s more geared to arborist work.

How big of a tree did you climb?
Try a smaller diameter tree and see if the hip pinch goes away. Something in the 6-8” diameter range.

I'm waiting on mine. But this notch really got me thinking.

I climb comm towers for work and I'll run an Elk River in the summer and a DBI Sala in the Winter. Both have seats, the ER is sewn in place and the DBI is adjustable and removable.

For some back ground, I've been in an Areohunter Kestrel for about 4 years, and shot one deer out of it, been busted about 20 times though. (Killed about 10 deer off the ground since then)

I like the idea of saddles (light weight, quiet, climb any tree). But at least in my Kestrel, I fidget too much, and it's not really comfortable.

Now taking a hard look at the amount of time I spend per activity while hunting, it makes since to actually prioritize comfort.

30 - 60 min walk in.
15-30 min set up.
4 - 12 Hours Hunting.
15-30 min take down.
30-60 min walk out.

As you can see from my numbers even in my shortest sits, and my longest walk in, I'm actually spending about 60% of my time sitting. So it goes to say that I should prioritize comfort over ease of set up and system weight.

In the past I used a ROS or the top steps of my Hawk Sticks. This year I started a platform and that help tremendously with fidgiting. But I'm still not really comfortable...

So my brain is spinning on how to make a comfortable saddle for leaning (big wide padded back band) and have a detachable batten seat (Petzl Seat).

I think the seat is key. That's the reason that I think a lot of guys have hip pinch. You need a solid seat to sit for hours. No one I know that does rope work for hours on end (wind turbine work) does not use a seat.

I'd bring the seat for longer hunts when I didn't want to lean all day and for short hunts I wouldn't even bother.

The only harness I found that would maybe work for this are the Stein Vega, Petzl Sequoia, or Petzl Falcon.

But they are all pricy, except for the falcon and have too much metal.

I was able to put my DanO fleece pouches on right beside the linemans loops the normal way.
