For those that use sticks

I love seeing those piebalds. My buddy got one last year, and I saw a very nice looking piebald full body mount recently. I've never seen one on my property, but I'd sure like to

I've been chasing a Piebald in this area for the past four seasons and finally caught up with it. By the size of the antlers you woulnd't think it is that old but my taxi says he is at least 4 years old judging by the teeth. Who knows whether or not it is the same one or how old it is but the one I've been after was mostly brown with a white rear end (which will also be tanned and hanging on my wall lol). I believe it is the same deer.

Always saw him once a year and then it would disappear.

Congrats. That's a true trophy.

Well I tried to run 4 lonewolf sticks today. What a pain in the butt. So much work to put up and take down 4 steps plus its a hassle carrying them up the tree. The one stick method is too easy. I will most likely use two sticks; one at the bottom of the tree with a single aider to get me up a quick 7' and then the climbing stick with a single step aider above that. I will carry screw in tree steps as a self rescue in case I drop the single climbing stick. One stick all the way!

I did test out shooting from the saddle today for the first time. Too easy! I was worried about my string hitting the bridge but you have a lot more clearance than one initially thinks. Had my doubts about saddle hunting for a minute but now that I have shot out of it I'm lovin it with zero worries!

Thats a cool looking buck!! Also to make it easier with multiple sticks going up the tree I tie a couple loops of paracord around my saddle and attach the bases of my sticks in them. Im not sure which way your climbing with them but I have seen guys try to sling them all over their back and that is just a pain. Congrats again on that trophy.

Thank you for the kind words and advice. I will give your method a try with the paracord. Honestly I didn't have a good method of securing them during the climb so that was a major part of it.

Yeah I watched a guy sling sticks over his back on youtube. While it worked it was more time consuming and I did not feel it practical. I don't know where I learned the paracord trick but if you run say three sticks total you are only going to need two loops for the sticks you bring up the tree. Simple procedure just pull the bracket out of the loop and attach. FYI you only need to make your loops long enough to fit the bracket of the stick in maybe a 4inch or so loop. Good Luck

I've always slung 2 over my neck and shoulder. One on each side. Been doing that for years no problem but like anything, when you find your system and work with it all the time, it becomes easy. Over the shoulder does work well with 3 to carry at once. I like the paracord loop idea. Always learning.

It's really about getting a setup & system that works for you. After a yr or so I've got my multi stick system dialed in.

Thats how I do it too and so far its the best way I've found to get up the tree with multiple sticks. I've got it dialed in for three sticks perfect, but I'm trying to figure out a way to do it with my 4 short sticks.

Everybody has their own system and it is up to you to figure whats the best for you and your equipment. This site is very good at getting information out there and progressing the hunt and the hunter. Constant evolution, best of luck!
