Has anyone tried this 2tc method?

I have tried a few variations of the 2TC method the past couple of days. I am able to move up the tree but it seems to be a slow process. I will try some more in the off season and see how it goes. In my opinion and this is my opinion, I'm not trying to be critical of the climbing methods others prefer. When I 1-stick with a 3 step aider I am about 7 feet off the ground with one move. It only takes me 2 more moves to get to my normal hunting height (I usually hunt at 15") In the time it takes me to set up the ropes for 2TC i am already starting my second one stick move. As far as weight savings goes, it is negligible for me. With both methods my tether rope is also my rappel rope and I always use a platform. Carrying a 20" stick with an Amsteel 3 step aider only adds about 3lbs, maybe less since I am not carrying a second tether. I also feel more secure on the stick when setting up for a move. I will try it again but at this time I don't think it will be my go to method. This is just my opinion and whatever works for you is what you should do.

2tc. Method takes weeks practice to refine at least..keep at it .you just havnt figyered it out yet.once you do .the stick will just be in the way.in one sticking people say i made 1 move. But in réality you step into the aider, then on to the stick.then move the tether then sit in the saddle.my grade school math says thars 4 moves, and im guesing i may have missed à step or 2

I think the more I watch different climbing system videos the more it reinforces using a simple safe method. If this is your thing great. I just can’t imagine going through all that to climb a tree to kill deer ( one sticking is pushing the edges of fussiness for me, I tolerate it on occasion b/c it serves a purpose & is kinda fun) I love to tinker with gear & systems to help perfect my process but nearly as much as actually hunting…… just think if you had 4 sticks or 3 plus an aider
You're right. I had too many annoying climbs with a one stick because of passing limbs and crap, where when using sticks and a lineman belt, it's so simple. Even when using sticks and a tether it's more simple.

However i have never been guoged on my plastic single steps.like so many people have with sticks..no kickouts ,no slip offs.they are closer to the tree and are staggerd for stability.passing branches is nothing.sure there is more straps.still better than carrying sticks

Maybe you can help me out. The biggest issue I have is advancing the top tether. Maybe it's because most of the trees in my area have really rough bark. Any suggestion appreciated.

Samcirrus gots this covered. Most of my own issues that made it frustrating where just in the measurments of both tethers and the movements.having the foot tether adjustible and learning to use your adjustments to get the measurment consistant helps.climbing techniques are there own learning curve.but like a bow the gear must be tuned first.i just got lucky on the technique part.my foot tethet strap stays conected with elastic.

You gotta let out slack when advancing the the tether to really make it easy on yourself. Some people like keeping the rope the same length the whole time but I think you lose height per move. I let out about a foot as I’m moving it up the tree. Once it’s as high as I can reach I take the slack out and continue with moving the bottom tether.

That is why a favor a stiff rope for my top tether. I use 11.4mm Bluewater assault line. I helps in advancing it. Rought trees just take a bit more work.
