Wondering if anyone has toyed around with this. Put the hardware on a piece of scrap helium I had from cutting them down. This stick is roughly 13". I'll cut it to 12" tomorrow (taking an inch off the top)

My goal is to have a stick that is small enough so I can easily zip up my pack with them inside. Put them on the tree and used with my aider and they seem plenty sturdy. I can get 40" with one stick, so I'd need 6 to get to 20'. To me that's the same as if I'd use a WE step with a knaider.

Does anybody see an issue with this? All criticism/ideas are welcome!

These were about 6inches

He said that around 9-10inches would be better & leave a decent amount of post sticking above the stand off to have a good hook up point for aider

I will try this with hanging it at 7-7.5 ft then use a 5-6ft long aider

6 of these would be equal to the 3 sticks cut at the 22-24", correct? Only benefit I see is maybe more packable?

U pretty much have a slightly longer version of what he was suggesting for improvement

I was gonna do about 7-8 inches between stand offs with 2 inches above and plastic dip the end so no edges

Also was gonna have the bottom of post stick about 1 inch below to allow staggering the standoffs when stacking

Where did you get the extra standoffs?
I threw away my cut offs not even thinking about this.

I took them off my sticks I use now just to see if this would work. Wish I could get more standoffs to make 3 more stick!

Damn I wanted to buy ur cut offs

I think Babshaft took stand offs from a normal stick just to experiment

I just ordered some LW stand offs that I’ll use so don’t have to switch them between sticks

I need someone to sell me some cut offs for the extra steps tho

Are those LW standoffs $10/each or $10/pair?

Tapeworm is the man!

That is all... lol

On a serious note. I’ll be doing a similar version to this with dan’s sticks just to see how I like them. I’d have done it with the helium’s but hawk won’t sell the standoffs.

When you stack 6 minis together how big is that package? Just wondering if a packable height means not so packable width?

2nd question. Would it be easier to just girth hitch your aider to the treesave using sticks all together?

Kudos to you on the aiders. I've been using an aider with my lone wolf's and I want to like it... But I don't. I'd love to cut mine down but till I find an aided set up I like.

$9.99 per stand off and flat rate shipping is $7.99 for the whole order

I ordered standoffs , buttons & batwings to take advantage of the shipping flat rate

I don't know how big that stack would be, but I was thinking of making it 2 stacks of 3.

you're basically making a less evolved option than the jim stepp, given the options for aiders out there. Having said that - if you have the hardware already, then they're free minus elbow grease. And free/new is always fun!
