New member! New to hunting from trees! I’ve done all my deer hunting from the ground thus far. I’m really interested in the light and mobile aspect of saddle hunting.

Welcome. I hunted IL this year and it was amazing. Jealous of you Midwestern guys!

Where about where you? I’m near Kankakee, about an hour south of Chicago. This is actually my first year hunting in Illinois. I got into deer hunting while I lived in Mississippi. Rifle hunting. Since moving here, I got into bow hunting. I got my first bow kill a month ago. I’m hooked. I think saddle hunting looks like a great advantage over a tree stand. Already looking forward to next season!

I’m really digging this group. There is a very high “signal to noise ratio” on here. Far less bias and chest thumping than most hunting sites! I have learned quite a bit already, have a kestrel in order, and can’t wait until next season.

I believe that. I contribute that to no “feel” forums ie: politics, religion, money or sex. Things that people “feel” strongly about.
I think this group has a more common interest. It’s more about the saddle than how you hunt.
I think the longer it stays that way the more this site will grow.
I’m proud of this website and to be a member of this website.

I usually never visit off topic forums! I think some of it may be that this is a small group. Mostly true enthusists. There’s always someone arguing about my (bow, hunting style, whatever) is better than your whatever on the bigger forums. Anyway, admin is doing a good job keeping things positive and on topic here.

Amen, Brother!

Good forum. You'll like it here. I'm just a couple hours from you over the state line in Wisconsin.
