Long time hunter (35+ years) just getting into saddle hunting and stumbled across this forum. In Michigan I mostly hunt whitetail, turkey, rabbits, and trying to get into coyotes. I've made a number of trips to Wyoming for mule deer, antelope, and elk. Mostly hunt from fixed stands since I have some property, but also hunt as a guest on private property in central Michigan and public land on the west side. Ordering parts for my custom platform and getting ready to purchase parts for custom sticks. Undecided on a saddle but will probably go with Tethrd - looks top-notch.

One of my favorite gun hunts is a canoe hunt through public land. Having a lightweight and portable setup that can be brought along in the canoe and hiked back in would be fantastic.

Bowhunter15/DIY Sportsman's design for custom sticks is what I'm planning for getting up high. I have a friend who has a machine shop and we're discussing what it would take to produce the double steps - the rest I can DIY. I asked in another thread if anyone was interested in a set of double steps made from 3/8" x 1.5" x 8-10" 6061 aluminum and had some interest. I'll get some pricing together, hit me up if you need some - the more we make the cheaper they'll be.

Thanks to all those making great videos - VERY helpful so keep up the good work!

Welcome to the site! Sounds like a lot of hunting experience to bring to the table! I might be interested in some steps depending on the cost.

Welcome from PA. Take you time look at all the saddles that are available and then make your decision. Also check out the different types of platforms. I have never used one but I would look at the predator platform from Tethrd Nation. It looks well built and if I go the platform route that's the one I would get.

Welcome from a fellow S/E Michigander. Post pictures in the (DIY thread)of your modified steps when you get them completed.

I am back from vacation but talked to my friend last night and he hasn't been free like he thought he would be. This is good news for him, not so much for us. I'll get a chance to talk with him more on Sunday and will see what the timeframe looks like.

No rush, I’ve always wanted to mod my lone wolf sticks, or at least the top step.
