Anyone have any good suggestions for some educational hunting books that one should give a read? I have already read the Eberhart's books, both of them. Trying to get through the slow days here and get through these next 2 months ASAP!

Check brothersofthebow.com . Barry and Gene Wensel write some awesome stuff...

Whitetail Magic or In Pursuit of Trophy Whitetails by Roger Rothhaar, probably the best whitetail hunter that ever lived, IMHO. The books might be hard to find but worth the effort. Super guy too, I've had the pleasure of meeting him.

Wow! Over $300 on Amazon for those books. That's crazy!

Wow!! $300!! I get my books from Roger's son Ryan. He's still at the family home in Ohio. When Roger moved to Iowa he left all of his book inventory at Ryan's house. Ryan asked me "what am I going to do with these books". I think he had someone wanting to buy the inventory but I don't know if he ever sold them or not. He's still (or at least was) still selling he books for face value. I bought myself a new copy of In Pursuit of Trophy Whitetails because I had marked up my original copy so much, I thought I needed a fresh copy. I bought another copy of Whitetail Magic to give to a good friend of mine.
Roger get's upset when guys have him sign a copy of the book then sell it on ebay. I had him sign my copies last time we were together. Anyway, in my opinion Roger's first book, In Pursuit of Trophy Whitetails was the "how to" book and Whitetail Magic let's you go along on some of Roger's best hunts for a birds eye view. Both are worth reading and re-reading but I don't know if they're worth $300....

If you have a way to still buy them from Ryan, I will gladly pay for a set. I found whitetail magic on a different site for 25$ but can't seem to find pursuit.

You can contact Ryan at the address below. I don't have an email address.

Give him your email address and he'll most likely connect with you.

I'll start by saying I don't agree with everything in the book but to me it's a great read - Whitetails by A. Robert Sheppard M.D.. It's an e-book.
