Hunting Hoody

For someone doing a good deal of walking I’d definitely go Ambient over Furnace. If not, I’d roll with the Furnace. Both will be layering pieces unless the temps are really mild and no precipitation.

I also have a furnace 1/4 zip.....so will likely go with the Ambient hoody to add to my tech clothing collection.

One of my favorite pieces last season... Down to about 30 degrees with a puffy jacket and base layers underneath.

Different beasts....the furnace 1/4 zip is heavier and I use it as a layer on really cold days only. The origin is lighter and I use it a lot more, sometimes as an outer layer on days that aren't too cold. The origin is partially water resistant, has a face mask and has some odour absorbing properties, none of which the furnace hoody has. Furnace is a heavy-weight merino wool.....origin is FL 37.5 fabric which I believe is a synthetic.

I guess it comes down to comparing the features and deciding which are more important to your style of hunting.

Of course because I'm a sucker I ordered one of these fleeces because "hey it's on sale" too https://www.orvis.com/sherpa-fleece-jacket/25ZF_2.html perhaps one/both will work into the rotation, I've had intermittent luck with orvis branded things in the past.
