My 8 yr old shot his 1st deer ever today! When we got in a shooting house about 1.5 hrs before dark I thought we wouldn’t see a thing. To say the least we weren’t quiet at all getting to the stand, and it was dead still. Well about 15 mins after finally getting him settled, I see a deer moving up the side of the hill towards the food plot we were hunting. I tap my youngin on the shoulder, and tell him to stand up, and get ready to shoot. The deer steps out into the food plot 40 yards from the stand. He takes aim, fires and the little buck staggers for about 20 yds before falling over dead. I’m not sure who was more excited, him or me, lol. He wound up being a little 4 with both main beams broken. Either way, he is a true trophy.

I love taking kids hunting. More fun than shooting one myself. I also think passing the torch to children is the best way to help our passion for the sport of hunting.

Great shot, on a great first deer! Congrats to him. From the pic it looks like it could have been better than a 4pt. A deer you had on camera or?
