Roger. Is it an exact copy or the original? Or his rendition? It’s not on the site. Basically word of mouth. You can shoot Mark an email and he responds pretty quickly.

Good deal. Just contacted himFrom my understanding it’s basically old/new stock. He acquired Loc On and he’s making them with leftover parts. They are powder coated and he uses new fabric for the seat. The pack is a copy of the original but new fabric. He‘s supposedly making an add on bracket to make leveling the platform possible.
Can you share his response? Curious as well.Good deal. Just contacted him
He has them ready to ship. Can you share his response? Curious as well.

I’ve been thinking of something very similar for my wife. I was thinking I could tie into a pulley at height with a self tending hitch then rappel down as I pull her up lol. Let me know if you make it happen.I've envisioned a scenario when I start taking my kids hunting, where I one-stick climb with my saddle, then pull up a stand with my rappel rope for them. That way, they could hunt from the hang on with me right behind them on the back of the tree for support.
With the help of ascenders and mechanical advantage, I think I could basically pull/belay them up into the tree, which would eliminate the need for extra sticks. At the end of the hunt, I could belay them back onto the ground, lower the stand, then rappel down myself.
It would be the same system I take now, except for the addition of:
- Stand
- Kid with RCH
- Longer Rope
Still a work in progress...
I pull my 10 year old up using the safeguard on his saddle. If you have big feet get the LWCG1.0, I wear size 12EE.And found the LWCG.5 to small my feet hung over.I have been hunting out of a saddle this year and love it, mostly public land and certainly a mobile hunter.
As the rut is heating up here in TN, I’m considering getting a light hang on to use with my sticks and saddle for next year.
I’ve adjusted my saddle endlessly and love it for 4-6 hrs but just can’t seem to get comfortable for more than 6/7 hrs.
With that said, what are your favorite light hang ons? I’d use it as a hybrid, still hunting in my saddle but turning around and sitting some.
I carry my current platform in the load shelf of my mystery ranch popup 28…bonus points if said lock on could also fit in there when I’m not carrying my platform.
Thanks for any input
I had the rut roost for a short time. It’s pretty cool but I found that the edges kind of cut into the back of your thighs a bit. They’re not sharp edges but they’re edgy enough to cut in a little I felt like. Also carrying it with another platform I thought was kind of a pain. You could stealth strip the heck out of it and probably prevent the metal on metal, but it is as heavy if not heavier than most of the platforms out there right now. Not trying to dissuade you but that was just my experience with it. I really wanted to like it more. I did like it for what it was but found myself leaving it behind most of the time eventually.I just got done with the Wisconsin rifle opener and used a Windwalker for my all day sits. With a rifle, it worked great. Didn’t need to really hide all that much and didn’t need to put side pressure on it. I found myself sitting and just using it as a regular treestand most of the time.
I think next year, I’m going to go with a platform and some sort of strap on tree seat combo. I like the idea of the rut roost, but think it’s a little pricy. I’ll probably buy some old tree seat off of FB marketplace and see how that goes.
If I was bow hunting for an all day sit, I’ll need that side pressure option. You could definitely mod the Windwalker to do that, but I’m thinking that FB would have a strap on tree seat for $20 or something.
Yeah rut roost is also a little high priced imo. These seats come up on FB marketplace once in a while for $10-$20. That looks interesting and pretty much along the same lines. Why not try it for $20.Yeah rut roost is also a little high priced imo. These seats come up on FB marketplace once in a while for $10-$20. Thinking I’ll give that a try paired with a platform first.View attachment 76938

i used my loc-on for MD rifle opener. hung pretty easy and was stable but the seat wasnt my favorite. its uncomfortable in a different kinda way than a lone wolf seat. kinda like a saddle i guess...you gotta move around and try different positions til you find what causes the least amount of pinch. Any older hunters have a tip? That front bar with the padding was pushing into my thighs.
que es esto???Get a hybrid.
