Killed a good one on Sunday! First time killing during the "October Lull". Just gota get in their bedroom! 145" on public land. First public buck ever. Guessing he would've been a bit over 150" if he wasn't broke up.

Nor camo. Especially what people are willing to pay these days. That deer is the size of 3 bucks down here. Noice!!!

Super! Good work. I just bought a home in DesMoines. Granny wants to live by the grandkids. I will declare residency for next season. Can you put me in your stand? Lol Best of luck to you!

Well Oct 19th I started off by deciding to go into my set up after early morning grey lite. It was a decision that paid off…just didn’t want to bump deer going in. I was sitting on a oak flat butted up to a old pine stand behind me. The beans had been harvested the week prior and acorns were dropping that morning. A really nice buck showed up behind me cutting thru the pines 50 yards away @ 8:30am…grunted to him but he just kept going…all of a sudden another buck followed this buck and he was a shooter for sure…things calmed down for about 20 minutes and then a lone doe walked underneath me. I could see deer crossing to the north of me about 80 yards away then I heard a deer to my right walking with its nose close to the ground and I could see his main beam was broken off.. he actually walked to 14 yards in front of me eating acorns but his rear end was directly facing me for almost 10 minutes or so I absolutely had no shot …I told myself don’t be a hero and try to heart shoot him “just center punch him” that’s all I had to do…he finally turn to the right quartering away… I drew and placed my sight on his opposite shoulder and centered for both lungs…instantly he was on a low digging death run…he went a little less than 100 yards I say. I shoot Sevr broad heads and Ray Charles could have followed this blood trail it was amazing. The rest is history…thanks to a good friend I shot a buck of a lifetime…really don’t care about score as much as shooting for age. I plan on aging the jaw bone but we believe the buck is 6.5. Now Iowa should be fun over the Nxt 10 days or soD95949C0-65A4-4417-A403-94626A057B56.jpeg

The scrapes are now being hit hard and during day lite hours. When new scrapes show up and concentrated in a given area your in for a show. I set up on a new set of scrapes after scouting an entry point I haven’t been thru in a mouth. I’ve been waiting patently for the kick-off and the chasing will follow over the Nxt several days. I freshened the scrapes and put smokies orbital on the overhanging branch and got this picture 2 hours later. I didn’t hunt today and decided to scout and prepare a preset…should be a great spot on a south wind…my Target buck Issachar hasn’t been around my cameras for a while so lets see what happensCCB344EE-66C9-478C-B16D-AABA6F8B9FA8.jpegECBB8181-A989-499C-989B-1AC0D94CA620.jpeg
