You are supposed to sit with the two pieces on top of the lower seat. I don’t know how it could squeak, mine never has

I added a bungee tied to both sides to help keep the pouches nice and tight during the walk. Also added a water flask with hook if I dont have room in my pouches.Screenshot_20200907-083058_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200907-083107_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200907-083112_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200907-083117_Gallery.jpg

@dlist777 Thanks for the awesome idea! Got my JX3 this summer and have tried multiple different bags/fanny pack combos but none of them seemed to function as easily as I hoped. Convinced the wife to let me use her sewing machine yesterday and made these bad boys. The larger one will hold my tether and ROS. The smaller one holds my range finder and equipment/bow hanger strap. Haven't decided what the other smaller one will be used for yet. I way over bought this tan canvas fabric and can probably make about a dozen more of these bags, so the skys the limit!

How are you guys looping your bridge for your tether on each side? I'm using a carabiner on one side and it isn't even. Also, what is the loop im pointing at for? Can you connect your bridge there?

I'm using the bridge that came with the JX3. Looks like there might be other bridges that might be better.

I'm not sure I know what you are pointing at? But, the bridge connects to the two loops you can see pretty clearly in the pics above above. The stock bridge is designed offset so you girth hitch it on one loop and use a carabiner on the other. I swapped out stock for two small runners which I use that frees up some space, but also prevents you from canting (you'll see those orange runners in the pics). I like this because I use a xbow and don't really want or need to cant. But, if you use vertical you might want the flexibility (or xbow you might want it too). I would stick with the stock bridge for a while and see how you like it before you start changing things up....

Sorry about that. Pic didn't download for some reason. Its the loop that is below, or inside of the loop that my bridge is currently attached to. Hard for me to explain. I felt like I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting all the way set in and back in to my seat consistently. I have to grab it and slide in some every so often.

Can anyone point me in the direction of pouches like the ones in the original post? I'm not really equipped to make my own.

Also, how did you rig the loops on the side for carrying your sticks up?

Is it easy to put layers on while 20ft in the Jx3? I usually take off short I work in, then put on heated vest, then merino wool top, fleece top, parka and then bibs over pants. Is this possible in JX3 while only using top of a climbing stick?

No. I dont think it's easy to put layers on in the tree. It can be done (top half only)....and I do it....but not easily imho. I'll put on all layers except maybe one at base of tree. If this is a big deal to you a minimalist saddle may be a better choice.

Thanks for info. 3rd season with “minimalist” saddle and they are killing me. I cant imagine one sticking in my full cold weather kit. I would prob soak my clothes with sweat. Im gonna give the hybrid a shot once I get it friday. I have until March for open archery season so if I cant make it work with all my gear/clothes, gonna have to scrap the 360 degree life.

Its probably easier if you stick with the stock bridge. I've shortened mine. With stock you'll have more room. Play around....might be easier to put on while you're standing on your stick and have LB on....before you attach tether and bridge and sit down. I have alot of presets so I dont sweat too much while climbing....maybe others can chime in

This is one of my considerations for what kinda saddle to buy. What I’m not sure of is am I gonna be able to draw my bow comfortably while sitting. When in my hang on or climber I always stand. This is my only trepidation with buying one cuz as I see it it’s the perfect option for gun hunting!!!

I’ll be honest I hunted out of the JX3 for half of last season without practicing shooting out of it. This summer I finally did shoot some groups. I’m 6’ with 29.5” draw for reference, bow is 33.25” ATA. For whatever reason I shoot great groups out of the JX3, it might be how locked in your legs can be to the tree, combined with sitting removing any instability in your lower half. At least for me, shooting is no issue in fact I might be more confident than standing, not for all shot angles, but for many.

For me any bibs go on at the ground. But most heavy top layers go on once I’m set up. With the shoulder straps off I really haven’t had any issues. Can you put a jacket on while sitting in a camp chair? It’s not much worse than that imo.

My Old pack compartment carries bibs, pnuma heated vest, midweight merino top, fleece pull over, FL winter face mask, after shot kit, grunt tube, head lamp,
225d4b940c7e4f6ceddbeb13cf88a8a7.jpg

climbing stick. I have learned to pre tie tether/rappel rope to handle of pack since i will pull it up the same as before I had the JX-3. The stick will be swapped with gun/bow at tree and come up with pack. I have yet to determine if bottom bibs go on at or in tree. Another tip is I leave my vest/merino/fleece pull over as one top. This makes it faster to put on once instead of 3 separate layers. Now I have to come up with the load lifters.
