JX3 Hybrid - Questions for Interview with John

Just wondering if John wanted to speak about future plans for development.

I still have the gen 1 JX 3. I will eventually upgrade because I use it more than my other saddles. No knee pain.

These are excellent suggestions and I really like this thread. It is awesome that Mr. John is open to this kind of feedback, and it is great of @kyler1945 to help collect it for him and provide insights from his extensive field testing experience with the product. You can't beat that!

I'd like to see a reduction in the bulk that it is in your immediate operational space (right in front of you). That is the bridge and the side straps that it mounts to. That is one of the things that struck me negatively about the JX3 compared to a soft saddle. Having any bridge in front of you is a challenge when converting from treestasnds, but it was never a significant problem in my Kite. The Hybrid however always made me feel like there was too much junk in the way of my pockets, my lap, my arm space, and just my personal bubble in general if that makes sense.

I think the weight is what it is but of course I'd pay more for a lighter version. I wonder if the idea of a seat-only model with a soft back band like other saddles have has any potential? Might get the weight down some.

Storage while walking is great. Access to storage while hunting not so great, but that is the nature of the design I'm afraid.

Keep the ideas and operational tips coming...I love the JX3!

From talking to him for a few hours, he’s got some other things in the works... add-on’s to the hybrid, as well as some other hunting related stuff... See if he wants to throw any info out on any of that stuff...

The cool thing about John is, once you get him talking, you’re gonna get your money’s worth. I love that he’s so open, with someone he’s never met in person, nonetheless. He’s good people

I'm just following out of curiosity.... might consider a 6# version or such, otherwise too heavy for my particular use. Question for your interview.. does he have any tradbow hunters using it? Anybody here?

About the other stuff in the works- I heard some ideas about a few add ons with last year's model, but nothing since. Maybe with the new version rolled out, the add ons will follow?

Even without any of those, this is already such a unique contraption!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the threads about the jx3, there's about 15 on here who really caught the crush too.

@kyler1945 thanks for championing this and John and turning me onto the JX3. I was fortunate to get on the list and have mine at the start of last year's season and have been in love since!

Love my JX3, my only problem with the new model is the leg buckles, too hard to adjust, the old ones you could do one handed.
any one find a solution for this yet?

I took the buckle off the pack frame and changed it out with a different one. Then I added two straps that attach to molle webbing on the waist belt. I used those straps to secure the load on my walk in and I just attach leg straps whenever I am walking. This way I never have to adjust the horrible adjustment on the leg straps.

I am still working on figuring out what to do with the straps I added while hunting. I don't like them just hanging loose and buckling them when the seat is down doesn't really work.

I hear yah, the Cruzr saddle uses Cobra buckles but not that extra buckle guide, might take those off and see if it helps.
Let me know if you do and it helps.. I think Im going to play around with it as well

Yes.
I have always hunted with recurve or longbow (rifle, muzzleloader) out of different iteration's (homemade) of the Guido's/JX3 style saddle, since the late 80's, until I purchased a Guido's in 2005.
I like to push off the tree using my ROS (bolts or ratchet strap on) for the shot, or I also lean into the webbing on the sides for clearance.

I played around with completely modding my HBS to be attached to the JX3 & John had some ideas, never went anywhere with it. So any ideas for accessories........

Any future plans for a JXLite (not the slim)? I tried it out a Saddlepalooza 2019 and it is just too heavy for my taste, no matter how it packs or carries. Maybe a version with an optional back band like other saddles with a lighter seat...
I envision: a shorter(much shorter) seat maybe 12-14" deep rectangular shape with a wide fabric/stretch band-style back, like a oversized backband, and a mini molle pack frame or something like the internal frame from a hiking pack(carbon fiber of course).

Off of the subject. But @Bigterp this is how I modified my HBS to use with my JX3. It isn't connected but it does work. I cut two slits into the back of the HBS to allow me to put on the backpack straps of my JX3. I also cut and added zippers into the legs of the HBS. So I can unzip the zippers on the HBS and keep my legs outside of the HBS while I climb to height by tucking the legs under the backpack straps of the JX3. Once at height and all tethered in and sitting I pull the HBS legs out from under the backpack straps and insert my feet and then zip up the leg zippers.

Perfectly comfortable and warm in the HBS using the JX3.

I use this with my JX3 and I had a Guidos web and could also be used with the web.
