Knee Pads or pad on tree?

Which knee pads did you get? I can’t make up my mind knee pads of XOP seat

I got some middle of the price range contractor knee pads from Home Depot. They were comfortable but bulky. I now have a pair or arcteryx not sure on that spelling. They are definitely more compact and the comfort should be there but it will be a little over a week before I could say for sure.

Im just starting w/ the saddle but I have been using a pad strapped to the tree and it works fine. I am curious on the colder days how the heck I am going to put my hands in the pockets of my jacket though....that doesnt appear to be possible in a saddle. Could be an issue
get a hand muff, activate a hand warmer or two and put them in there, thank me later;)

The pants I own and wear on literally every hunt in any state unless it’s 85+ degrees are Sitka Timberline Pants, they come with integrated knee pads that can be removed. They are a life saver for saddle hunting and it’s so nice to not have to worry about strapping on pads and noise.

Good idea although that will get to be a lot of crap buckled around my waist- RC harness, Sit Drag, hand muff. I'm accurate in my thought that accessing my jacket side pockets is going to be a thing of the past when using a saddle-correct?

Possibly, I can still access the pockets on one of my jackets pretty easily, it's actually my late season one thankfully.

I started using a hand muff quite a few years ago and honestly it works great with my setup, I know it's another thing to attach around your waist but it doesn't have to be tight and positioning it where you need it is fairly simple.

The other factor will be how low you have your sit drag. Are you a leaner, requiring the saddle to be mounted a bit higher or a sitter with the saddle lower. The higher you have it the harder it will be to access your jacket pockets. I'm sure you'll adapt just fine.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, I suppose I should give my opinion on knee pads or a fixed pad.
I have gone without any pad for quite a few years, I'm more of a leaner so it doesn't bother me much on sits less than 3 or 4 hours. When pulling off longer sits I need to sit more and I find knee pads a bit more suitable to my style. I am only 5'5", 150lbs so I like to get into some pretty small trees if they're in the right spot, fixed pads just don't work for those
