I will be headed to Lake Anna in 24 hours to hopefully catch more large mouth like this: 20171021_081858.jpg

and Stripers like this:

I am also going to dust off the Go Pro and video camera and teach myself how to video edit while I am down there so hopefully I'll have a video when I get back that rivals @Appalachia and @flinginairos Lake Erie trip.

I'm not sure if any of you VA guys have spent much time at Lake Anna but, there is nothing more exciting then catching 26"+ stripers on top water. I can't wait.

I definitely will. I enjoyed your Erie videos and I love small mouth fishing at Erie. I have fished (and done pretty good) in several tournaments up there when Dad and I used to fish the Fishers of Men tournament series but, having a 26" striper explode on a top water lure 5 feet from the boat might be the most exciting thing you can experience with a fishing rod in your hand.

Glad ya liked the vids! I really want to try striper fishing.

Been wanting to try Lake Anna sometime. I am not but a couple hours away. Will definitely be looking for your report on how it went. Are the striper still up hitting top water there? Went to Smith Mountain Lake a few weeks ago but the top water bite is pretty well over there and they have moved deep. Good luck!

They have mostly moved deep but you can still catch them on top water for the first hour after daylight and the last 30 min before dark. We hit a couple of flats first thing in the morning and usually catch between 2 and 6 keepers 20"+ (3 of us in one boat) then we go bass fishing or go back to the dock and hang out with the wives and kids until the evening bite. Most locals don't believe us when we tell them how we catch them, we are catching them on top water in 4-7' of water around some specific structure types. This pattern has worked in June, July, and August over the last several years. The pictures above are from a trip last year in October. It was even better then.

Just out of curiosity what are y'all throwing on topwater to catch stripers?

Any walk the dog bait. But my favorite is a Repo Man, they quit making my favorite color (baby blue) and any color is hard to come by now but, we know a guy that was able to find Repo Man blanks and he hand paints them to match the color we like.

Hope you caught a few! I still haven’t tried for stripers at Anna, but I’ve done pretty well this year on the largemouths. Need to get back out there soon! Maybe a night trip...

So here is my first ever attempt at filming and video editing. I think it turned out okay. Some of the 'excessive' editing at the beginning was me just figuring out what I could do. Maybe some day I 'll get @flinginairos and @jryser to give me some pointers on choosing background music.

The week started a little slow and I thought I jinxed myself with this thread but, it picked up later in the week. The first couple of days my oldest son, my dad and I were in the boat together but, later in the week my son jumped around in the other two boats in our group to get some different video, and to give more room for my 8 yr old son to go with dad and I. The last day my brother in law was wearing the go pro to film his 11yr old son. The day before his son caught his limit of 4 stripers, all on topwater. The last few seconds of the video is just me giving my cousin's husband a hard time.

Edit: I have no idea why the video starts in the middle.
