They all seem to have a purple glow on the webbing to them for some reason

This isn’t one of those “gold dress / black dress” internet questions is it ?

Yeah, I have two of these saddles. Neither of them glow. Maybe it’s reflection of a flash? Either way I haven’t experienced any ill-effects yet, and have had deer come in from behind me twice now, inside of 30 yards.

ok great. It was just every single pic I've seen looks like the same purple glow. Wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue is all.

I've been comparing this saddle to the recon lately and find it to be a good out of the box setup. As others have said, it's very comfortable, stays up well while hiking in and is easy to use.

A few things that I kind of find annoying with it are:
1. bullkier and heavier than recon or mantis.
2. oplux belt isn't fixed and spins around, this makes tightening or loosening a bit hard because it doesn't stay in the same place.
3. why 2 prussics on the bridge for adjustment? I almost want to cut both off and just tie a fixed oplux. Also if the prusic were to some how fail, you're SOL.
4. Oplux, Oplux, Oplux Oplux. It gets kind of confusing when you look down. Linesman, tether, bridge, belt, all oplux. It'd be great if there were a few different color options to help differentiate.
5. 2 panel doesn't self adjust... The recon and andersons have continous webbing that will self adjust as you move. This one doesn't. I don't notice it often but on occassion, I realize I've gotten totally off center and I need to re adjust myself so I'm centered in the saddle. Tricky to explain.
6.Stock tails from their knots are way too short. I recommend everyone retie these and give yourself at least a 2" tail.
7. Dump pouches are nice but taller and narrower than the original SYS haulers. putting my ROS into them isn't as easy. The molle clips are also a bit smaller and several times I've had them fall off, once while at hunting height.

Again, the saddle is sweet and I've enjoyed hunting in it but if I were king for the day, I'd work on a solution to resolve the above pain points. I hope this helps.

Cheers,

John

I think the theory behind the 2 prusics is so you can adjust which panel is getting the load. You can slide the prusics down and put most of the load on the bottom panel, or up higher and bias the top panel. If you switched to both panels under you, you would also want to change the bias to even Id guess. If you just had a loop on the end of your rope, you couldnt do this.
Im curious about your comment about self adjusting straps. Do you find the anderson style is more comfortable?

Good point about the prusiks adjusting the load. I think you're right about that and did explore those positions a bit. I've honeslty found that middle loop feels the best for my sit/lean style.

I don't have a decisive answer about comfort with the anderson style saddle yet. I find it holds me around the waist tighter and I don't become uncentered in the saddle.
