Not sure how good it will grab the tree, but I worked with some material I had on hand and designed this 1 pc post and bracket in one. I'll give it a try tonight and see how well it holds the tree.

Interested to see how this works. I think most of the tube platform kits are 12". My machined ones are 9", but I've wondered how short you can actually go and still have it work. I also like the one piece construction!

Looks good. I can anodize that black for you if you want it anodized.
No charge.

Send me a PM

I am liking this!! Good stuff!

We out on my lunch break and tried it out. It didn't work like I hoped it would. The bottom claw needs to be farther down from the platform. It gripped the tree good, but when I put weight on it it wanted to rotate towards the ground and pull the top away from the tree. Back to the drawing board. I have another idea, but I'm going to have to buy some aluminum.

Take a look at this concept... I never got to it but the idea is it that the post would fold up onto the platform for easy pack ability....

That's kinda what I was thinking. Except I never thought about having it fold onto itself. That's a good idea. I accidentally got by brackets rotated inline with the post and it seemed to hold just as well if not better than the traditional way.

Just a heads up, I've broke the ear tab off on a XOP platform similar to how you have that rigged up on the buckle end. I was using Amsteel though and was bouncing on it to cam it over. Not sure if was mine was just a little weaker than others or not but now I tie in to the frame with a stepp knot. I don't hear of too many tabs breaking but it has happened so just be mindful.

I believe @Erniepower has a mod that doesn't require use of the ears when using the strap. He may be able to point you in the right direction at strapworks
