My Not So Lightweight Reinforced Climbing Sticks"!!!

Yeah I chamfered them, you can see the chamfering in the pics when I was cutting the tread in them best.

Right on. I like how you cut the treads also. I took the ones I made and mated the top edge to top edged in another jig and drilled 1/4” holes 1/2” apart where they were half and half in each step and chamfered them also to eliminate any sharp edges to the hands climbing but left a 1/8” deep by 1/4” wide half round in the top edge.

That was my original plan was to drill them, but decided to crosscut them while I was cutting the stick dado cuts. I just bolted them all together at the center 1/4" bolt hole and ran them across. I liked the tread and decided to run them lengthwise (one pass each centered) also to make them more aggressive. I really dont want to slip while climbing.

If you are using this material the linear foot weight is listed here, you can guestimate an approximate weight.

I would guess around 5oz after the angles are cut off and before the holes are drilled. You are cuting off close to 4.5 inches just for the angled cuts. Maybe a finished weight near 4-4.5oz each.

I'm building a set of my own right now. This post and others like this are very helpful.

I need to order the tree stand off brackets. Can anyone tell me if if the lone wolf are lighter than the xop. I have the xop sticks and there standoffs are 5/8" thick. Trying to decide which stand offs to order.
