New Aerohunter saddle

I'm new to saddle hunting and have been waiting for the new saddle to come out by kestrel before I purchased one. Can you guys give me your opinions on what is better for a bridge, rope or webbing?

Rope will be tie with bulky knots unless it’s spliced. Rope will be stiffer so it will not pack as well as webbing. Rope usually is ruffer sliding in the carabiner as you twist. If it’s amsteel rope, then it will be spliced, so no bulky knots. It also packs really well and is lighter than rope. Amsteel is also very slick and smooth. Webbing loops can either be stitched or knotted. It’s knots will be smaller than rope knots. Packs really well and is smooth in the carabiner. Very strong and more wear resistant than amsteel.

Anyone know if the flex saddle seat (other than the flex portion) is still the same material as their other saddles?

I'm definitely liking what I see but, this will have to wait until at least Xmas. I have been harping on my wife to cut out ALL misc expenses as we build a small cabin in VA. I think this falls into that category.

Also, I sold my size 1 Kestrel because it was just a little too small and I was going to order a size 2 for my next saddle. But, now that I have lost 20 lbs over the winter I don't know what size to get once again.

The kestrel flex is the same size as the kestrel but can expand so people that are between size 1 and 2 can use the smaller size if they desire

If you do not expand the seat a size 2 is the same in both saddles.

I love the look of the Predator camo but I do not want to be walking through the woods on private or public with white showing. Asking to be shot in my opinion with the way people are these days. That's why ordered mine in Asat!!!!

I don't understand what you are saying? Why would you get shot by having a little white on?

Nothing wrong with ASAT. During firearms you should have on blaze orange. Blaze orange looks kind of brown though in low light. That’s why I use a head lamp with at least a red light on even when I can see just fine. If I get on the edge of an open area I will turn on the white light so it will be visible from farther away. Yes deer can see it but there are more important things than killing deer. For the most part I try not to be moving during those low light moments but there are days when you’re running late.

Because there are sloppy lazy "hunters" who will shoot at white thinking its white on a deer without properly identifying their target.
So you wouldn’t stalk deer like this?

I see your point but I try to think anyone that would shoot at a predator camo saddle would probably do the same at just movement.

I'm with you Eric. During bow season I carry a headlamp but rarely use it just because the nature of bow hunting keeps you closer to your targets and they are easier to identify, regardless of your level of outdoor acumen. During rifle season I use my red head lamp religiously. First, there are more hunters in the woods, many with less experience and second, distances can play with our perceptions. It's hard to mistake a red light bobbing thru the trees unless you're hunting Rudolph.

I would hang Rudolph on my wall in a minute. Sadly I only get one opportunity a year to hunt him and I’ve always got some sort of family obligations that get in the way:weary:

LOL, not me and I wouldn't hunt turkeys behind a tail fan either.
It’s not uncommon here to hear of someone shooting a turkey from 300 yards with their 22-250. It’s not legal but people break the law every day. I think the mule deer and antelope hats are a neat concept and may work. You should be perfectly safe during archery season but I happen to know at least in my neck of the woods that people have shot deer with rifles during archery season. Pretty sure it happens everywhere.

Yeah, I'm not worried about it. I tried to Google hunter's that have been shot wearing Predator Fall Grey. Good luck on finding one incident and that pattern has been around for 20 years.
