New from NC

What kind of knee pads work best. Looking for something that won't absorb odors that I can keep scent free and that won't make noise on tree bark. Maybe I'm asking too much.
Really personal decision. I got Lepfun S9000 and I'm happy with them. I did not want hard plastic on outside or straps that clipped because for me they do not stay in place. Trade off is these can get warm but I wear them over compression in winter and under scentlok always. They are comfortable and that's important

I ordered the Arc'teryx LEAF Knee Caps from Tactical Gear.com for $38.00. They are normally $59 everywhere else I've looked. I do not have any experience with these knee pads, but there are a lot of good reviews. I also can't say how good they will be for saddle hunting either since I am brand new to this style of hunting. The knee pads haven't been delivered yet, so I can't tell you anymore about them other than the manufacture description and reviews. I can say that I have experience with different knee pads while in the Marine Corps, I never found a pair that I liked, they were always bulky, the material and layers of padding made me sweat more and were uncomfortable (however they were more comfortable than just your knee on the rocks, hard ground and concrete so I guess they did their job). The design of the Arc'teryx look like they will eliminate a lot of the complaints and discomfort I've had with other styles. Hope that helps?!!! Clear as mud? lol

I'm in the same boat. New to saddle hunting. But I'm trusting the recommendations from experienced saddle hunters here.

I bought the same pads for the same price. Excited to see how well they work when they get here. They're on backorder so they'll be for next season.

Yup. Same here. Got the "back order" email yesterday.

Where did you order from? I ordered mine Monday from tacticalgear.com and it's already shipped, will be delivered Saturday 1/13/18. Just FYI for anybody looking to get a pair...

Mine were the tan color. I think they called it "gator". What color did you order? That may be the difference.

Same place. Expected shipping date is 1/19 for me I think.

Same here. 19th was their expected date. Fine with me. It's scouting season now.

Yea, I shouldn't have thought about it so long!! :D

I've tried knee pads and used them a little, I don't sit anymore only lean, I think if you spend enough time in a saddle and have a decent platform you will eventually stop carrying them.

The best advice I got on SH was to practice, I just didn't listen, or at least I thought I was practicing, until the deer showed up at 5 o'clock on opening day and I didn't know how to move into position for the shot.

So my advice practice moving around the tree and shooting at targets 360. Also moving to hide from deer. If you're like me and don't have a place to climb and shoot make some friends!
