Hi all,

I have been very interested in this saddle hunting technique that I have come across. I grew up Hunting in the West with purely spot and stock but then moved to KY where all you do is Tree stands and blinds. I have seen the limits of both of those and see the incredible potential in this saddle hunting method. I have researched them quite a bit and am ready to take the dive, problem is...there doesn't seem to be many options. I looked up "guidos web" and that guy is now no longer in Business, I looked up "tropyline" and they are no longer in business. I of course have come across "aero hunter" and it looks like they just came out with a new model called the "Kestrel" and their last model was the evolution. Not gunna lie...the evolution looks much more comfortable for a guy that has never bee up in a sling and the Kestrel looks like a very minimalist approach and not very comfortable. Anyway, just looking for any help I can on what to get. Is the "Kestrel" that great...Should I go the evolution rout. Also looks like aero hunter is saying they are baked up for months on fulfilling new Kestrel orders. I can't wait that long! Any recommendations? Thanks Y'all.
 
Welcome! I'm from north eastern KY myself.... for info you have came to the right place there is a wealth of knowledge here I can't speak for the kestrel as I've only seen it in person once but haven't hung in one but they seem pretty slick.... I have a guidos web and a sitdrag so basically both ends of the saddle hunting spectrum.... the web is definitely a Cadillac when I comes to comfort but the other options out there are all viable.... the evo is also out of production now so to buy a new commercially produced saddle the kestrel is the only option but used saddles come up for sale in the classifieds.

Welcome I’m in Southern Indiana right on the Ohio river. I to just got into saddle hunting after 3 decades of using traditional treestands. The Kestrel is well worth it. You can find them in the classifieds. I feel safer in my Kestrel then I ever did in any treestand. Again welcome to the forum. We are all here to help each other whether you are rookie or veteran.

Welcome! First off let me say. I have a guidos and its good. I have had minimal time in mine but love it and see its potential. I will be purchacing a Kestrel tomorrow. I love the fact that saddle hunting can put you in places that you just can’t get with hang on’s And climbers. Take your time research and ask lots of questions. This forum is a huge resource for information and ins and outs for saddle hunting. So enjoy and once again welcome!

Welcome to the site! You are correct in your assessment of available equipment. You can pick up a TL or web on classifieds, pretty sure new GW saddle coming soon. I have a kestrel & love it, I’ll let some of the evo guys weigh in on kestrel vs evo.
 
Welcome from Louisville Ky. Everyone here is right, watch the classifieds. Also there’s a lot of public property just west of you. Check out the different properties of KYRiver WMA. I feel the saddle hunting methods will be particularly advantageous in these areas.
