New from WA

@G2 you would like that wouldnt you! dang Hummint/Geoint/Intel guys always collecting eh? lol JK nothin but love for a brother in arms.

@lonebow No worries i hunted white tail up near three rocks by Elk Chattaroy and ended up running into a Moose. I am out on the peninsula so i know all about the rain. The fires screwed up my elk hunting in GPNF this year but i was able to get onto a herd on some timber co land but couldnt close the deal. It was my first year hunting elk, i am originally from the land of Lincoln so this is a huge change for me.

I would be willing to link up and hunt out east, id love to get a muley. We currently have a cougar problem, my neighbor has what looks like 2-3 different cats on different trail cams, so i know the pain of over predation. Dang hippies out here do nothing but make it harder to manage the herds/wildlife, they just want to snuggle all the fury critters HA! I have a herd of about 40 elk that frequent my property so believe me when i say the WDFW is drinking the cool-aid. I have heard rumors that the wolfs have hit the northern cascades, but i have yet to confirm.

I may end up moving east, too many people on the West side.

Wait...what...??? You went from "the land of Lincoln" to the Olympic Peninsula? Man, that's like going from the Sahara desert to the Amazon rain forest! Sounds like you know what you're doing to get into elk on your first year hunting' them.

I'm in the Colville area, about 40 miles north of Elk/Chattarory. If I get any decent muley bucks on any of my game cams I'll get in touch with ya.

I can confirm, with absolute assurance, that there are wolves in the north Cascades. Hard for the WDFW to deny it since wolves with tracking collars are showing up on game cams on both the east and west side.

Oh I will always be an inland northwesterner at heart.

That's why I come back home every year for the October 10 elk opener.

I've never hunted Washington however so if you have some cool adventures over there let me know. L

Welcome to the site!!!!!
now to hijack the thread...
Ernie, be prepared for me picking your brain on elk hunting.... I had my first (unsuccessful, but can you really call a week in the CO mountains unsuccessful?) elk hunt this last year, and I AM HOOKED!!! Elk hunting is like Turkey hunting on steroids. Same calling methods, different animal. AND..... the elk taste better. I hope to gather some historical data over the next few years, since the area I want to hunt is the same as the area we vacation in in August/July of each year.
