Hello all,
I hunt in northeast Ky and southern Ohio and have been using a climbing tree stand or hang ons for years. However the steep terrain and thick cover can make these stands hard to get into the right locations. I also hunt public land which is another issue with hang on stands. I am intrigued by the saddle hunting method but have never seen one in person or tried one on. Looking for suggestions for a first timer? Opinions on the kestrel from new tribe kit?

Thanks

Welcome. The Kestrel is a great way to go, new or experienced.

Welcome, can't go wrong with the Kestrel...! You won't be disappointed, I also hunt southern Ohio and whichever harness you end up choosing will be the cats meow while humping those hills.

The kestrel kit is a great way to get started saddle hunting. It’s a good mix of weight and comfort.

Welcome to the best site on the web! I agree with kelly.jayp, find someone near you and try a saddle on. You'll have more info to make a wise decision on your style of hunting. I'm sure your saddle hunter buddy will also have a lot of useful information as well.

Welcome to the site, there should be a few guys not too far if you wanted to check out before you buy one. This was my first partial season saddle hunting out of the Kestrel, I love it & hunted some pretty rough stuff with it. For someone new coming in it took a lot of the guess work out of it for me. But there’s more than one way to skin a cat!
