hey. been a bowhunter for 30+ years, from recurve to compound to selfbow to longbow and back again. currently hunting with a custom 3piece recurve made by a friend and a bowtech compound.

hunted 'elevated' the whole time...had every kind of stand made....but found this place as I recently got into rock climbing and was looking up using my rc harness as a safety harness, and got intrigued about saddle hunting.

I already use a set of leverage 3 step climbing sticks to get to stand height, modified by removing the strap/buckle/and W bracket, and replaced with a lonewolf versa button and amsteel blue rope.

have the rock harness, locking 'biners, 11mm 9mm and accessory cord for ropes and ordered some 1" milspec tubular webbing and also ordered a sitdrag. I have a few harnesses that came with tree stands over the years that are unopened, thinking I could repurpose some of that webbing for loops and belts and stuff.

anyway...seasons in full swing up here so I'm not sure I'm going to get to this custom stidrag mod in time for 2016...but we'll see.

Welcome hickstick. Another Mass guy. I think I recognize your handle from Mass bowsite. Haven't been on there much since I found this site. Watch out collecting new gear plus trying all the different climbing techniques I found on here is addictive and expensive.

yup JWS...same handle on Bowsite, Tradgang, AT, and a bunch of other sites. lol

so, tonight was my first time putting my newly modified Leverage sticks to the test. I'd replaced the strap & cambuckle last year with amsteel rope, but was tired of dealing with the W-bracket. so I bought 3 'replacement' versa buttons from lonewolf. OMG was it sweet and easy getting up in the tree with the versa buttons + amsteel. I also added an 'aider' step out of 1" tubular webbing with a 1' chunk of climbing rope slid inside to hold the step open. worked awesome.

was hunting CT, and had a deer come in right a sunset. don't understand the cutoff at sunset instead of 1/2 hour after that everyone else has. lol

I'm in Hanson. if you have any interest in checking out the aero hunter or Guidos web shoot me a pm. Also have a sit drag but haven't done anything with it yet.

Thanks! I don't know if I could afford either so I don't want to tease myself...lol. wow, Hanson...you're in prime real estate there...lots of big bucks coming outta SE MA lately. I'm in Shrewsbury so maybe after the season I'll hit you up to check them out.

Ah you must be right on the border! Where in mass?? I was expecting a good day today since we got a little snow and it was in the 20-low30's busted 3 on the way in and that was all for the morning.

I'm just east of Worcester, but have access to private land in southern CT. I thought the same thing as I was walking my dogs this morning....nice morning to be in the stand...but nope...had to work.
