Not meaning to open a can of worms - cross loading carabiners

Can I get these on the end cap of the check out line?
Not generally, no. Look I am all for folks using whatever makes you happy as long as you recognize and understand the risk. Just keep in mind if you are hanging from it, it's yo backside that's on the line. It aint the fall that gits you, it's the sudden stop.

I actually was being sarcastic and of course that doesn’t come through on a post. I have a bad habit of doing that.

With that being said, I was legitimately asking what people were using for carabiners that have chosen to use them for girth hitching. I thought about starting a new thread on that but I figured we would basically end up back here with discussing whether we should do it.

Use the search function.

I'll save ya the effort. If you're not in the overkill crowd your a menace to all of society and nearly everyone will die as a result of the mere suggestion that anything else will be acceptable.

If we don't quit talking about this now, they'll lock this thread real soon. Don't rock the boat. This has been decided and there's nothing left to discuss.

This is never brought up when talking about the aluminium sticks or platforms that are not desighned by engineers though .
I curiously think about it every time I cam my platform over and it is rock solid. I figure one of these days it will pop like a 6 year old mountain bike frame landing in the flat. The good news is the chance of me getting hurt with a platform failure with my system is miniscule and I no longer launch my mountain bike like I used to.

I have a variety some non-locking, some screw gate and some auto locking. Dont remember brands off the top of my head.

Petzel small frame non locking.even if the gate was to somehow open without me noticing it right in front of my face my rope break keeps the rope in place in the biner..they will kill everyone but me.according to saddle hunter dot com its seems i may have just been born superior like a jedi.

My .02: The worry needs to be about ascenders, slack, ropes, knots, stitches, and splices. The carabiner or link should be the least of our worries. There is more argument over the strongest link in our systems than the weakest. I have used carabiners for everything since day one and never worried about them breaking. Doing what we do you are not going to harm a climbing rated carabiner. A saddle hunter will never fatigue a carabiner to failure. Maybe it is just the fisherman in me, as the knot and line has always been my main concern with saddle hunting. It freaks me out that guys use the 8mm stuff. Personally, I use an ANSI gate triple lock on my climbing/rappel rope just because I don't want to accidently open the gate in some freak occurrence. I don't use screw gates in my hunting setup, all wire gate and auto lock for me. I also use a lineman's belt when I one stick as I can't seem to break the temptation to climb up the stick without advancing my rope every step.
