Thanks everyone! Gonna try to get the vid done tonight. I got some killer footage over the weekend. Didn't get much the day of my kill because of the weather but I did get the shot on film and all the recovery!

That's a great buck!! I've been thinking about hunting Ohio for a couple years now, looked at a couple maps. I guess i need to just get after it!!

Do it!! Great place to hunt. I've hunted there four years now and killed four bucks. Nothing super huge but solid deer.

Ok I'll quit putting it off & scout after the season & make a rut trip next year. It's about 6 hours from my door. That's not bad at all.

What area were you thinking about hunting? There's some public real close to me I was planning on scouting I'd be glad to share some info with you if I find anything.

So I grew up in Kansas City & now live in Baltimore. On our annual trips back home, I always pass through i70 & was looking at public land above zanesville there were 2 public spots & one that was coal land. I'm not set on anything though. Maybe I could come out & meet up to scout if you had anything that looked good. I'm a bit less than 6 hours from Columbus......

Hey... I’m like 2 hours from Ohio’s northern border. Don’t leave me out of your shenanigans! I think next year is the right year for me to do an out of state hunt!

Hey @flinginairos - once again, great buck and story. I have a question for you though - I know you do a lot of beast-style bed hunting which is what I often try to do. You also seem to have good luck with getting your target bucks on trailcams without spooking them out of their bedding areas. Do you place your trailcam at the actual location you have chosen to hunt those bucks? Or further back on their exit trail or what?... I always avoid putting a cam too close to a bed or my hunting location as i don't want to clue the bucks in, but I don't seem to get all the intel i would like from the cams... What is your trailcam approach to complement beast hunting?

Thanks,
Drew

Good question! I have been using cell cams on what I think to be the best exit trail and monitor when they use it. It's not foolproof tho, the cams aren't that reliable and only send me maybe 1/4 of the pics that get taken, but they allow me to see what's going on without intruding. It more or less shows me that deer are using the area on specific winds. I use the intel from those cams and others that I have out to get a general idea of what they are doing. So they cell cams go in pretty close to bedding and my normal cams are on food sources farther from bedding.
