Oops ! Dont want this happening to me

He was rocking around on the top portion of the climber, it gave way, and downward force caused the bottom portion to give away as well. Must have been a sub-optimal tree situation where the teeth of the climber did not dig in sufficiently.

ETA: he should also have been tethered to the tree, independent of the climber.

Looks like he didn't have his feet on the bottom piece, so the teeth were likely barely engaged.

I can't believe how many people still hunt elevated without a safety harness.

This is why I use full Arborist Grade climbing rope and Arborist grade saddle etc.

I use a platform, but I don't want to fall to my death from 30 or 40 feet

2 guys I know through work share a lease and have like 12 fixed stands setup, they don't use harnesses because they say "it's only 15 feet".....can't argue with that...

PS...I did tell them that falling 15 feet is extremely dangerous

It doesn’t take much of a fall to paralyze or kill you! Had a friend who fell from an eight foot step ladder, paralyzed him from neck down and has since passed away!
