PA Show This week Latitude sticks

I ordered some a while back and don't plan on cancelling it, hoping they beat out my beast sticks and I'll not be buying anything from tethrd because I actually have a memory so in my opinion latitude sticks might be the best stick on the market. Also really looking forward to trying them out late season, ideally they will be warmer in the hand than metal sticks, without spending extra for stealth strips, and interested in what they sound like if they happen to make contact with each other, hoping it'll be more stick/antler like, and less metallic/human, being... Not metal. ive also never had an issue with beast sticks standoff length, size 11 boots and I just cant my toe out to the side a bit. Not really understanding then need for a hand hold either, when I use sticks both of my hands are usually on my LB flipping it up or resting there as I lean back into it? I don't really grab the next stick to pull up, I just step up with my legs.

but as I said elsewhere, fanboys gonna fan. Whether they are great or they suck, I'll report back after they arrive (I think June?) I'll post some detailed photos and will even try to take a video, though I'm guessing we'll have a bunch of actual YouTubers doing videos around the same time of year with them.

Can you explain hand hold and integrated stacking for me?
Not sure what you mean by integrated stacking, was that me?? As for hand hold I like to climb with my hands & feet while using a LB, so I prefer a top step that I can grip the top or bottom step while climbing.

I technically could get 2 fingers hooked on the center but it didn’t seem natural to what I’m used to. I’m sure some folks will like them

Probably referencing @enkriss post #31.

Looks like they'd stack great, to my eye. Or nest, if that's the proper way to put it. No metal-metal. It seems quite intuitive. But I've not handled them.

They slide around and need to be held together by a titan strap Latitude is giving away with packs of sticks. They don’t lock or nest together well.

Idk, 100% mirror matched carbon sticks that fit together nest together well. Sounds like you're making mountains out of mole hills.

From seeing them in person, they don’t hold together like Tethrd one sticks because they don’t have rubber pins, but the latitude sticks stack flush, but they don’t have anything to keep them together so you will need a gear tie or like enkriss said they will come with a strap from Latitude.

This is like saying the Tethrd ONE sticks need stealth strips to quiet them down. (except Latitude is providing a gear strap and you have to pay for ONE stick stealth strips?)

Stick fight!!!

Tethrd One stick vs Latitude stick.

Rules: You have to use them as they are straight out of the box, or boxes if you get four from Tethrd.

This will be THE YouTube video of 2023. Calling it now.

I’m so exited to see if any mortal man can ascend the latitude stick even without it having a hand hold. Or if he can somehow figure out how to get them to stack together and stay together for that long arduous trek back to the vehicle.

Will the one stick survive this newcomer or remain king of the trees?

My statement wasn’t attacking the Latitude sticks, just making it clear that they don’t hold together without a gear strap.
I think the latitude sticks are awesome and I have 5 on the way, but no stick is 100% perfect and ready to hunt out of the box the way I would like them.
All climbing stick manufacturers products need a little tweaking and everyone has a different preference how they will modify them.

What’s important to some people is not to others. The Latitude sticks are a no go for me. The negatives far outweigh the positives for what I want in a stick. However minor they may seem to you.

Of course. I'm not saying you or anyone else should like them or buy them.

Your statement about them lacking integrated stacking (aka built in fasteners, like XOP locking sticks and Tethrd ONE sticks) is true. I'm not disputing that. I think saying they don't nest well is a bit overstated. Thats all.

They stack flush. They don’t “nest”…. Beast sticks nest… the stand off sits in a notch in the step. Custom gear compacts nest with grommets, custom gear doubles nest with the top of the bolts in holes in the stick preventing them from sliding around.

These latitude sticks stack flush and low profile but they slide around and do not lock in. There is no feature on the stick that keeps them slacked straight. When you actually see them in person you will see.

I follow what you are saying but so far as I'm concerned, they meet the definition of nest well enough.

I get it now, thank you very helpful. For myself, I typically rely exclusively on my LB and feet (currently using the novix mini sticks which i wouldnt think would be good at all for hands) so personally not as worried about that. Im trying to understand how easily they come apart from the stack as well as best way they would be held together while hanging from my saddle while climbing. The ONEs with the "sticklok" tabs keep everyting together easily - on the flip side i dont know if those tend to break?
Sorry, i saw "integrated stacking" elsewhere you're right.
Im on the fence between the Tethrd ONEs and these new Latitude sticks. I am intrigued by no hardware whatsoever and the material, feel like they would last forever without any concern of hardware getting loose or corroding over time.

@enkriss is correct Latitude is providing the 3-pack with a tian strap or something like that. see below photo snipped from ATA youtube video. guessing this is what they are providing.

Good news is you’re not locked into anything & plenty of time before season to try stuff….. get a few & keep the winners. Plus you’re rarely going to get a general agreement on preferences here…. People like things for different reasons

Simple enough. Does that hold them securely then?

If not, it'd be easy to make alignment keys, playing off the triangular cutouts. Or sundry other approaches.

Seems to me they are amongst the best stacking sticks outside of the fold flat designs.

i already use a voile strap for my beast sticks, it works great and is super fast (compared to the threaded rod etc.) but honestly dont really see the point sometimes. when they're strapped to my pack its usally with two straps, and ive packed them in without the voile strap and had no movement. i dont see how these ones would be much different/never really cared for sticks that "stick" together like the hawk heliums etc. but to each thier own, t obe honest the stacking/packing in is a non-issue to me, i'm just excited about having a stick that might sound different/more natural when i undoubtedly bounce a carabiner off a step going up.

Seems like every stick would benefit from a system that keeps them secure but let’s you remove one stick at a time as you climb. All sticks pack well enough when they’re strapped to my pack. I think the issue is how I would get them up the tree when I’m climbing.
