Any single thing that you do is all about consistency. If you can do the same thing every single time, it doesn't matter how you do it. I personally prefer to stack the odds in my favor and create as many anchor points as possible. I've shot without some of these anchor points, and usually don't "need" most of them while practicing, but in a hunting situation when form is forced awry, I have my checkpoints. I refuse to shoot a peep smaller than 1/4" (other than a dedicated target rig) because I've been in situations where a 3/16" just didn't cut it and/or was the cause of a bad hit. I personally now prefer a 5/16" peep. Another cheat code is to use a peep in a color other than black, because that will increase light transmission slightly. I also prefer a peep similar to a Hot Shot Archery Accu-Peep. My current anchor setup is: thumb (hooked)/release to underside/back of jaw, peep sight, middle point of nose to string (no nose button and "contact, not pressure"), and kisser button; that's four anchor points for me to fall back on.
