I'm not a fan for a platform. I won't use a ratchet strap either. If you haven't checked out the thread on the boat buckle already, do it. It's a sticky in the platforms section. It was a game changer for me.

I did see that , I actually saved all the links to amazon. So I think I’ll order silent approach steps and add the boat buckle to it. Was wondering if doubling up steps would be more comfortable for your feet?

Platform. I wouldn't hunt exclusively from a saddle if I had to use a ring of steps. A good platform is a game changer for me.

I'm primarily a platform guy, I just need some more area under my feet and I feel it gives me a better opportunity at the off side shot. That said, I can see why some guys like the steps. I often use a ring of three WE Stepps and I really feel more mobile around the tree than off the platform. Its feels easier to me to twist in the saddle off the steps than it does when using the platform. Probably because my feet are closer to the tree and provide better pivot points.

I used a ratchet strap in the past. If you hold down the lock so that it doesn’t click over the teeth it can be very quiet.

I hated the bulk of my xop platform and I was quiet comfortable on ameristeps and had no problem shooting a bow or gun and did not think movement was a problem. We are all individuals I guess. I can't see to like WE steps but others love em.

However, I am excited to try the new predator platform. Less bulk, less wait, easier to attach and maybe more comfortable and easier to shoot. I guess I will see.

What are WE steps ?

I am a new member to this site however I have been reading on here for over a year. Eberharts books got me interested in the concept. I ordered some of the wild edge stepps yesterday to try as a platform. I am still debating on which saddle to order. I will probably go with the mantis but am waiting for the first ones to ship. I do like the idea of a platform like the predator but that looks to me like I might as well be in my millenium hang on or climber and have more room. I have never been in a saddle so maybe once I do I could see better how a platform would work. Great site and some of the ideas and craftsmanship here could put NASA to shame. Crazy what we can do just to chase a poor little ol deer.:)

I could never get the silent approach straps tight enough to use as a platform. They have a different design than the ameristeps and it doesn't work well for a platform IMHO.

I use both. I really like steps and pivot style platform. You don't have to be in one camp or the other.

Platform. All day, every day, all year. Not even a question for me. :D

I could not agree more. Tried a platform for the first time last year and was immediately pissed at myself. I was pissed I didnt try it sooner. So much better.

This is my first year but I really like the EOP with Ernie's modification. I think while it is prime time I will be a leaner and other times will probably alternate between sitting and leaning.
