Your graphic works are legit. haha. That is a good idea. I may try that. I usually just hold the platform with my knee against the tube which is somewhat of a balancing act on spurs lol.
 
I hook platform to tree with buckle strap, cam it over, then stepp knot with amsteel cam over the platform. Yeah it's solid (grin)
I'm not using the short stick platform though like seen in the pics.

Here's the best way I found to hang the platform. With your Lineman Belt strapped ABOVE where you want to attach the platform, hang the platform from your LB with some type of cord. I use a Nite Ize gear tie. With the platform hanging from my LB, I have both hands free to position it where I want and tighten the rope/buckle.
