Cabelas is running a sale on API huntin sticks right now with free shipping.

Also, if anyone has spare steps from these I'd be interested in buying.

Cabela's is also running 10% off today if you have their card. I couldn't resist anymore and ordered a set.

What did you use to get the taper on the holes?

Yes, 1/2 inch holes with a 3/4 counter sink

I believe most countersinks are made for metal. I only had a half inch one, picked up a cheap ryobi 3/4 at Home Depot, did the job fine.

Holes and countersink can be a pain and I wouldn’t advise it without a drill press

I started this build using a hand drill. Quickly went and borrowed my fathers drill press. Made the job way easier.

@Lottig What exactly did you do to the button to make them work better with the versa straps? You cut them down but was this absolutely necessary to make them work, how much did you cut down and how did you cut them?

You definitely do not need to cut them down for the versa straps to work. You have to use the regular ones, not the minis. I think I cut about 3/16” off the bottom with a dremel and a cut off wheel. I wanted to allow the sticks to pack more compactly.

Looks good bud.

Just to add to this. Here’s an option for stacking that I don’t see many do, flip the 3rd stick upside down like this. Stacks slightly lower profile, but I mainly like it because the sticks don’t stagger down as far.
