Revisions to ur system

On a trekking pole. After a hunt in hilly Ohio two years ago, I started carrying one (or attaching it to the pack). @flcanopystalker was always on me about the slack climbing up my one stick. He was talking about DDRT and the paracord over the limb to pull his climbing rope up. One day I used the pole with only the basket to advance the tether up. Worked great. Then I had a buddy 3D print the attachment for it. He also printed a collapsible push pole that works the same way. Great for clearing early morning spider webs on the way in
Is it threaded? Cool idea!!

I'm on the lookout for a deal on a pocket arm, but probably just going to buy one soon. I think this seems like a great minimalist option with a cell phone and a second angle from a gopro. I've dabbled in self filming, but never have it on me when I shoot a deer because my heavy muddy arm is annoying to bring in on top of a complete mobile setup on public land. I also didn't buy a good enough camcorder I could plug a LANC controller into so changing zoom one handed was difficult. I upgraded to the Iphone 14 pro in hopes that the 3x telephoto lens and cropping in 4k footage will at least get me decent footage on the pocket arm. I'm sure low light won't be there but it may still be a cool option. What are you going to use as a head to attach to the pocket arm?

I went with Andoer mini fluid video head and Manfrotto pixi smartphone clamp.

Wow, where to start?
New to me this year, and I’m not sure where I’ll end up. If anything, I’ll have a lot of choices. I spent most of my hunts last year one sticking with my Wingman so plan on still using it plenty since I really like it.
Got a new Cruzr XC saddle that’ll probably see plenty of sits. Have added a JX3 this off-season and 4 TethrdOne Gen 3 sticks. And a BWMG GC single aider. A Bullman Platform ROS. As well as a LWCG .5. A Pursuit platform. And a 2TC setup from CGM. Traded my Crossfire ii scope for their red dot for my HC mini. Added some new broadheads to the collection but still not sure what I’ll actually use. Magnus Black Hornet Ser razors and Crimson Talon Cleavers are new for me. Got a new Mystery Ranch Popup 28. Some new Scentlok lightweight and Element Outdoors tops and bottoms. Scentblocker and Element Outdoors midweight stuff. A few more wireless Stealthcams. A Worksharp sharpener, a ZeroTrace plasma ion generator, some new ropes and biners, some KingsCamo rain gear, 8x28 Vortex Diamondback binos, RDA Outdoors rope mods for the Tethrd sticks…I’ll be back, gonna go visit the Saddlehunter Support thread

I'm thinking really hard about paying for 1 of those apps like onx or equivalent .....I can remember areas from last year I want to revisit but can't remember exactly where they are on the map. I asked my hunting partner and he know right where it is with a pin dropped.....that's valuable info....hard to remember all of ur spots once u really start learning those woods

Started using the caltopo app last yr. Really like it for hill country - 10’ contours, slope angle shading, & shaded relief overlays. It is prone to crashing & requires rebooting, but it’s free. My go to is still GPS kit been using for 12 yrs.

Welcome to the bottom of the rabbit hole. We have been waiting for you!

The biggest thing I’m focusing on this year is getting rid of all the excess weight. I got a smaller pack so I don’t load it down with crap I don’t use every hunt. The best upgrade I made was getting a woods deluxe saddle this year. I’m also going to be self filming this year so picked up the diy bow hunter saddle camera arm and the fourth arrow mini video head.

This is the first year where I'm happy with my set up. I'm focusing this year on being stealthy as possible. My big roll of stealth strips should be sitting in my mailbox. I added a hang free HFAS to my platform. I ran the USA last year and liked it but I lost the prusik tender. Hang free as in built in to their prusik so it can't fall off.

Wow, what a time to be alive. I hadn’t even heard of this camera arm. There’s several great options to choose from now for a compact arm. What camera are you using?

I’m starting out with my phone and a GoPro before I take a bigger plunge and drop money into a cam corder, but I plan on getting one of the canon VIXIA cameras.

I would like to see some picks of your pack setup.
Hybrid setup. Pretty straightforward. The only real notable item in this setup is the addition of the foot rests to the stand. They are great. Adds another several inches to the length of the platform while sitting down using it like a traditional treestand. Do not get in the way while using as a saddle platform. And help to stabilize wider loads (my backpack) when it is sitting in the seat “meat shelf”. So no need for a medium or large seat from LWCG. Pretty slick setup with the footrests. The only drawbacks to this setup are the height/length of the platform provides a poor angle for the backpack straps (only way to fix this is to use a larger stand, like the .75). And the compact steps are single step, which isn’t a big deal, just a temporary inconvenience when hanging the platform. Double steps would be easier, but that inconvenience is only temporary while hanging the stand.
