Hey guys, this may be a dumb question but do you guys use the saddle during your gun seasons too? Just asking because I am in the market for one and notice that mainly bow hunting is discussed. I plan to bow hunt but will also want to use the saddle for early bear (rifle in ny) and the regular firearm season in NY.

If so, any tips? Thanks yall!

I plan on using the following next year rifle, muzzle loader, Mathews Helium compound and if I can talk my son out of his Excalibur crossbow.

Learn how to brace against the tree and your bridge for rifle. Practice shooting off hand.

Definitely will do. I plan on shooting the rifle and the bow from the saddle extensively before the season. I like bracing the tree with a 22lr for squirrels so I was already thinking of doing the same in the tree.

i've used a rifle out of mine for close to 10 years. if anything, it helps you stay concealed because you can hide behind the tree more.

You sure can! Use the tree as your rest and if shooting off hand just make sure your feet are planted well.

As far as shooting offhand, I often use a paracord tether and barrel wrap. You can argue that this disturbs barrel harmonics but I have no problem keeping sub MOA accuracy and precision. The paracord tether is above your tree tether. This also reduces fatigue when holding the weapon in a shooting position out away from the tree. Very solid.

My plan is for Bow, Rifle and ML. Hope to eliminate all my metal stands. My wife can have all. I don’t see her hunting from a saddle..... not yet anyway

Thanks for all of the replies!

Bassboy, that tether is a great idea. I am going to have to test that out if I can't get comfortable bracing the tree or holding the rifle for hours.

Bowhunter15, thanks for sharing the video! I love this method too.

Looking forward for the snow to melt here so I can test out these methods
