I tell ya what, I'll report back here tomorrow night ( hopefully) to confirm my survival. Thanks for the input boys!

Ummmmm.... I hope the fact that this is your last post is good news and you've been processing your monster and taking him to the taxidermist. I'm not your mom. But if you say you are going to check in when you are safe, you better Mister!!!!

"Huck" is alive and well! Thank you Ropeman for all of your recent support. When I first met you I must admit that I didn't trust you. Thank you for hanging with me all day. Maybe we can do it again tomorrow and together we can experience record breaking high temperatures.

I saw 4 does all day in the greatest super-funnel on earth. I should have known it was gonna be bad when one of them was dabbing sunscreen on her nose.

Should the little steel cable hanging from the Ropeman be loaded inside the carabiner also?
I don't think it's necessary as I think the purpose of the cable is merely an attachment point for carrying on a rock climb harness. You can also leave the prusik attached to the ropeman carabiner and to the tether above the ropeman. I've been teaching my 13 year old how to use the Web and that is how I have his tether set up. Thinking about him brought me to a whole different level of safety awarenes.

I'm a safety nut. But with a Prusik attached to the ropeman, why use the ropeman? The one handed adjustability is why I first got mine

When using the ropeman what brand of rope seams to work the best when using 11mm size. Is durability an issue when using a ropeman?

I have my prusik about 6 inches below and use a separate carabiner to attach to the bridge. Still have the one hand adjustability and the hope is if the ropeman fails it'll grab before I fall too far.

Because the ropeman allows the one hand convenience. The prussic is not loaded so you don' t have to mess with it. It only loads if the ropeman fails or otherwise shears the rope...an unlikely event but I figure what's the harm and I doubt Wildcountry's testing involved using the ropeman repeatedly on the same part of the rope and under constant load....cheap insurance.

I don't know if any brand is best. I've used it on Yale bandit with no issues as far as durability.

One thing I noticed is that little steel cable could be a hazard if it was to catch on something because it has a loop on it. My suggestion is to either remove it, replace it with a small piece of string or probably the easy thing to do is wrap tape around it.

Has anyone painted the Ropeman? Does anyone know what kind of paint would adhere to it?

I spray painted carabiners with flat camo krylon. It comes off with friction and gets scratched but it would work.

I'd try to mask off the teeth
EDIT: I just did it. Open up each side to get the masking tape on the silver teeth and sides of the shiny inside part. I just held it by the steel loop and hit it a couple of times with flat camo green paint.

It should stay on enough to do the job. This one was shiny blue.

Maybe I'll try out my CAMP Lift tonight to see if I like it or of it's going to make too much noise on my biner. On second though I'll kidnap a few stretch bandaids from work tonight and wrap the biner temporarily. That should take care of the noise until I get home to my medical tape.
