My common sense tells me the best scent lok layers are MIDDLE layers. Here is why I think that...BASE layer SL worn against the skin will have more skin and skin oil accumulation on it which IMO, will lead to requiring laundering more often...not recommended by SL company.
Exterior layer SL will get contaniments on it like snot or other human odors. Those exterior, sufrace odors will not be passing thru, and absorbed by the carbon layer so I feel, at a certain point, the garment needs washed whether there is blood or mud on it or not. We transfer skin oil odor to our exterior surface of our clothes many times during a hunt. How many times during a hunt do you rub your nose or eye? Sneeze or cough? Scratch your head? Its instantly skin oil on that hand which eventually ends up on the surface of outerwear. If you dont realize how fast your body produces skin oil around the nose, wipe it with a tissue and look at the tissue...it'll be loaded with oil...even 30 minutes after a shower. I've had deer prove to me that they can smell a single fingerprint...I've watched it happen...one single finger print. How many fingerprints end up on your outer layers in the course of a hunt? And even if you wear gloves, have you touched your nose with those gloves then touched your coat? That outer layer has begun the accumulation of odor...little by little. It now needs washed. No problem...wash base layers and outer layers after EVERY USE and wear SL for MID layers. Keep SL as uncontaminated as possible. Mid layers get contaminated the least.
