Screw step platform configurations

I know I'm eventually going to get a Stepp platform but for now I have screw in steps. So far I've played around with setting them up. I tried 4@90*, 4@75*/105*, 3 covering the 1/2 I'm hanging on. Ideally id have them preset and could use more for less distance between steps but right now setting the steps is the most time consuming part of the climb. Has anyone put them one above another and slightly back from the other so you get 2 points of contact per foot for your primary resting position? What are some of your screw in set ups?

I usually use 5. If looking at the tree is the clock, 2,4,6,8,10 or something close is my usual set up. I will put the 2,4 positions a little higher because it makes them easier to reach as you walk around the tree.

I'm not sure how well it will work to put them close to stand on 2. Its a good idea in theory, but if they are too close you probably won't be able to screw the second one in because the first will get in the way.

I'll play around with it some this week. I find I have to change foot position every 15-30 minutes as it in right now. Most comfortable Ive found is sitting with one knee against the tree and the other foot fully extended against a step.

Could probably do it with Cranford style steps

That's common - especially with screw in steps. As your feet and body get in "saddle shape" you'll get more and more comfortable.

Agree with @g2outdoors. I am also always slightly shifting my weight from one foot to the other, one knee to the other, one butt cheek to the other. Just small movements that allow me to remain comfortable. I don't even think about them anymore.
