If you didn't save the heart, I recommend it on the next one. Cook it just like the straps. It saddens me to know how many of those babies I've left to the coyotes over the years. They are excellent. Congratulations on your first deer!
 
After replaying everything in my head, i firmly believe i would not have harvested that doe being in my lock on stand. The saddle allowed me to rotate and keep the tree inbetween me and the deer. She looked up at my backpack, which was on the backside of the tree, and studied it for a sec then went back to munching acorns. Saddle 100% contributed to my success.

And do yourself a favor and take one of those backstraps, dry it off and wrap tightly with cling wrap then place in the fridge for at least 14 days. You can thank me next month.

I’ve gone as long as 28 days. It’s incredible.
