yep, I built that tree strap a few years ago, built about 3 of them, mostly using an adjustable V bar which is shown. if i stand up and pull up i adjust up. its basically the exact opposite of the trophyline tree strap if you tied in per their instructions. i started using my treesaddle linemans belt as a tree strap, then built this for a shorter strap and weight
Yea I have thought about the same thing. Did you sew in a loop on the other end? If you could post a pic of the full strap I'd appreciate it.

yep, i sewed a loop on one end and i usually tie off above my bow hanger to keep it from sliding. never an issue, but a just to be safe thing.20151104_155823.jpg

Here is mine:
- note that I wouldnt hang the bow from the GW
- I am carrying too much :(

My set up:
Renting a house in Al
Bought property in Al
Clearing land to build a barn/temp living quarters on property
Trying to sale house in Ms
No time for DIY hunting projects
Can't find any tools if I wanted to do a project besides home development
No time to get Ms hunting lease ready for the kids
Have no clue what kind of season I'll be able to have
Only can dream of how awesome my new home will be when we get settled
Its gonna be worth the sacrifice of one hunting season

I would do the same thing If I were you

Xtacleone that is a sweet setup! Do you find the Stepp ladders take a really long time to install? I had a 12 step setup at one point but I sold it. It took me too long to get up the tree.

Your photography skills are on point!

For some reason I can't see his photo.

Thanks G2Outdoors! Glad you approve of the setup, I am still new to the saddle so it is good to know I am going in the right direction. As far as the Stepp Ladders, I am still in the beta phase. Also still an amateur with the GW as I have only had it for a week. Definitely a different style of getting in a tree.

So setting the Stepp Ladders is pretty easy and makes very little noise, but you are right in that they take a bit of time. I am not bothered by the time at this point. I am just attributing that to the fact that I am still getting acclimated to them. The only thing I don't like is that they do make noise when putting them back in the case and my case is made too tight. The times I practiced with them I just dropped them to the ground when heading down, which is the last thing I want to do because I have encountered deer several times before on my pack out.

Right now I am using eight steps for elevation and then using my last two for a platform. I am very pleased with the setup. I like these better than the sticks because they pack better and I can place them wherever I want which is awesome. I use a staggered pattern instead of going straight up.

Glad you like the picture I am a photographer by trade :) bigaaron.com

They definitely pack better than sticks. I guess it's a tradeoff. I'm faster with sticks, but lighter with stepps.

Keep practicing and you'll get your system honed pretty fast. I'm looking forward to your hero shots. They're going to be beautiful.

Thanks man!, hopefully I get something worthy of photographing.

Well I would but I don't think you could make heads or tail what you would be looking at. I put a dove belt on my sit drag this morning. It provides a belt so the saddle stays snug to my butt when I'm climbing as well as providing storage for my climbing ladder and other junk. The added bonus is I can put it on at the truck and just wear the whole system to my tree...well at least in theory amyways

Sounds similar to me. Have baby. Haven't scouted nearly enough and am under prepared this year and will have much less time in the tree. Gonna have to rely on some old faithful spots this year.

I started out great, then busted my shoulder up in late January. Didn't get out scouting for probably 3 months after that.

Id like to try the top half of an xop for climbing and a platform. Getting it shipped to the Arctic seems to be an issue....

Same here! Hoping for 1-2 days in the woods. No scouting done. Might not even get that done. Time when they're infants is important though, got lots of seasons left.

Oh yea. I'm sure I'll put some time in the tree but that baby comes first.

Haha... you guys got your priorities all screwed up.

When my first was born, my wife had to call me out of a duck blind. It was a good day, so my friend has his girlfriend come pick me up and he kept hunting... You say "Lots of seasons left, play with the kids now. I say, lots of time to make it up to the kids, hunting season is only a few short months."
PS... If my wife reads this post, she will kick me in the nuts and then tell you all the truth.

Family before hunting is the right priority. I am 58 years old so the time with your children is short. There is a season for everything. As the children grow take them hunting. For now just hunt less.

For me hockey was my hunting when I was young. I loved hockey... quit when the kids were young. Took it up again as the kids grew and took them with me when they could go with me and later I played in mens leagues with my sons...I loved it all. Now my knees say the time for hockey is over but my knees say hunting is okay. Hunting is my new passion and the season for that is now.... Hunting will come to an end some day too.

Hunt less and spend time with your children. They are more important than dead deer.

I am sure that hunting is temporal... children are eternal.
