I ordered some rope for a lone wolf rope mod. 8mm static rope....I thought

Once I got it , I realized it’s a 8mm paracord. It says it has a tensile strength of 3000 lbs and is good for towing and lots of other outdoor activities.

I think it depends on how stretchy it is. Regular paracord is stretchy. I know this is stronger , hopefully it works out for you.
 
I personally would not want to use anything that was not climbing rated, but that is just me. I am sure that some other ropes work just fine.
 
Anything less than 6k rating I would feel like I was gambling with my life. I want u to live my friend so I would pay the difference myself for u!!

8 mil rated for 3000 lb I would use it, but that's just me. Assuming you're not anywhere close to a 3000 pound man or even a thousand pound man for that matter.

OP is asking about climbing stick rope,mod, not lifeline, tether, or climbing line.

For what it's worth, I've been using 1/4" double braid line with a 2400 lb rating on my sticks for 3 years.

My opinion is yes, the 8mm 3000 lb rope is fine FOR CLIMBING STICK ROPE MOD.

(1st post on SH, but long time lurker, I'll go write a welcome post...)

Yeah, I didn’t realize what it was until I got it. I just saw it was 8mm rope and the 3000 lb tensile strength in the description and thought it said it was static rope.

I have been on the rope rescue team at work for 20+ years and I definitely would not use this for tether, rappelling , etc..

Thanks for the replies, the rope doesn’t have any stretch , so I think aim gonna go with it. It was an accidental purchase , but I think it is going to be fine for the application I’m going to use it for.

If I Have any issues with it , I’ll report back.

Lets talk about these sticks! What are those?
 
I use 8mm accessory cord, and it works just fine. The way I see it, it may not be "climbing rated" but it also is not likely your only lifeline if you are using a lineman's belt. I have aiders on my sticks, and I bet 1" tube webbing is not climbing rated either. Check the ropes couple times a year for any damage, should be good.

1" tubular webbing should be climbing rated or you shouldn't be using it. Just checked the stuff I bought off Amazon it is rated at 4900#.
