Silencing the Cough!

I cough drops, honey and when it’s real bad cough pearls.

Honey packets are a game changer!

"The Cough Silencer"

I was gifted one after a rough season of hacking. Strange thing to use, but it works. I have it around somewhere, but unless I had a persistent issue I'd never bring it afield.
Did you ever figure out how to put the batteries in it?

As someone with a lifetime of sinus issues this is a constant issue for me. Remedies I use, in no particular order, include:
-Sinus rinse (NielMed and Navage)
-Sudafed
-Nasal spray
-Fisherman's Friend
-Hot lemonade, with a mint tea bag, in a travel mug or thermos bottle.
-Instead of a cough silencer, I wad up a stocking cap and cough into it. Seems to work about the same. I used a cough silencer, stadium cups and Nalgenes stuffed with rags, etc., and they're just one more thing to lose or clank on something. I always have a beanie or spare gloves or something I can cough into.
-Emergen-C
-Theraflu
-Having a hankie to wipe the sniffles away seems to help control post-nasal drip and the resulting coughs.

This problem sucks. Good luck.

If you're too sick to hunt, then stay home, absolutely. But just having a gnarly cough isn't reason to stay out of the woods. Maybe you can set up with a rifle for a long shot. Maybe you can take the opportunity to walk trails and scrape lines and learn more about the land you're hunting on, or drive a deer to a (silent) buddy in a tree. Time in the woods is worthwhile, even if you're frustrated by fewer shot opportunities. Maybe you can tote a .22 pistol and zap a grouse or other small game.

Ted Nugent. used to promote one I think it was called The Cough Muffler. I think it was a gimmick. Never tried it.

Flonase up the nose before you go to the stand. Don’t suck it back through your nose into your throat. Just squirt to pumps up each nostril and let it sit. I keep some in my hunting pack just in case I forget. Coughing typically comes from drainage, Flonase prevents drainage. Zyrtec the night before will help too. I deal with allergies yr round, and have found no matter if I have a cold or allergies this prevents coughing for the most part. I hates cough drops, they give me the ****z.
