I thought for sure I'd have my Kestrel by now but it looks like it's going to be a while longer. I got a pile of gear to get saddle hunting this year but I still need a way to sit in the trees. I'd like to find a way to get going before gun season. I have new Muddy sticks with aiders, Ameristep platform, rope, carabiners, ropeman, hitch cord, knee pads etc. I'm guessing a sit drag setup is the quickest down and dirty way to get going.

What all I do I need for a sit drag setup?
Anything else you could suggest to get me saddle hunting?
Anybody tried a recreational saddle or arborist saddle?

I hear the recreational and arbor saddles are not near as comfortable. The only other thing you would need with the sitdrag is a rock climbing harness as your safety backup. Get one with load rated loops on the side to connect the flip line.
 
Is there a particular harness you guys recommend? Do I have to mod the sit drag at all? I assume I'd have to make a tether as well.
 
This video was the first I had heard of using the sit-drag. Pretty good explanation on what you will need.

What size waist are you? I have a couple extra rock climbing harnesses that I could sell you for cheap if you are less than 32-34" waist.

They don't need to be as those guys are up there moving around and working. Bending, reaching, cutting. I learned that for them that a comfortable sit is important but they also need to be comfortable while doing their jobs.
That being said we shoot for the best comfort in all our designs.
