Snapped platform

Anyone else over 215 having the same issue? I've been trying to source parts to make a platform just like that one.

I can sell you everything but the seat if you wish

Glad your okay. Did you ever drop it from the tree. I did and put a small crack in it and never used it again

Never been dropped. This platform is about a year old. No one asked but I wasn't jumping on it when it snapped. I was doing a demo showing the different shooting positions. I was in position for shooting the 6 o'clock or "drop shot" position so I did have all my weight on the edge.

I've got a post already. And stand offs. Really just trying to source a cheap seat. There's a guy with an old Lone Wolf stand on kijiji. I can't seem to get a hold of him though. Thank you though.

I have the same DIY XOP platform and haven't had any issues, though I have always been suspect of the entire setup. Way more confident in my predator platform. I'm 235lbs+ on a good day.

I took this as a sign telling me to buy a predator.
I hope my backup doesn't let me down while I wait for delivery.

Glad the OP didn't get hurt

for all the rest of us - gear WILL malfunction - especially when we start modifying it to use for unintended purposes. Doesn't mean we shouldnt use it it means to take precautions and know the risk.

ALWAYS, I repeat ALWAYS, secure your tether and lineman's before stepping onto any platform (spikes, ameristeps or cast platform) the #1 cause of tree stand falls is transitioning to and from platform to climbing method. And if you are not using a lineman's to climb, then consider this a friendly cyber smack to the back of your head "what the hell are you thinking" post.

The second law of thermodynamics and Murphy’s law says all things move to greater disorder overtime
So platforms will break. Sticks kick out. Etc
Yes and as Dave the safety bear says take a smack on the head if you are not climbing safely

Ontariofarmer, if what you have would work with a lone wolf flip top seat conversion I may be interested. Just getting started and need a platform

The cast aluminum seats were never designed to hold a persons entire weight. If it was, it would be built as heavy as the platform which was designed to be a platform. My concern with the Predator is the designers tried to make it like the Lone Wolf or XOP seats. I think a platform needs to be designed as strong as a platform, not a seat. I love the basic design of the Predator but not the marginal (in my opinion) platform casting. I think they are working on making a more robust platform. If they do, I'm back on board and will have to get another one.

I would also be on board with a slightly heavier duty version of the predator platform....even if it weighed a pound more. It would still be 2 pounds lighter than an assassin and way more compact. Personally though, I think a few more ounces of material, in a few key areas, could make it perfect.
