Splicing Sterling HTP

Just sent an email to WesSpur about splice-able 9mm static rope, I like the Sterling HTP but you can't splice it, I think thats in this thread, @redsquirrel told me about some 9mm that he uses for tether/lineman and I can't remember what it was, had it in my cart for a week and never pulled the trigger, crap!
I'm using the 9mm sterling htp :).

I use the Sterling HTP 9mm, redsquirrel answered some questions for me on it. Not speaking for him, but share a little info. I bought 85 foot of the HTP 9mm to use for tether and linemans, as well as SRT. I made two tether/linemans exactly the same so they are interchangeable regardless of task. I picked up two kong ducks for each of those ropes. Steatlh stripped the ducks and it is a nice setup. I really like those kong ducks, they adjust easier than a ropeman IMO. I know have only one type of rope. I also bought sterling 7mm accesory cored for friction hitches prior to getting the kong's. I wanted sewn spliced eyes on my two short ropes and one on my SRT rope but redsquirrel said that since it is 9mm the rope knots nicely. I decided not to have mine sewn and save the $45, it was a good call.
I love the kong ducks. The only reason I switched over to a ropeman2 this year is so I could stay in spec with my lineman's belt. The duck isn't great for a lineman's belt because it doesn't pinch the rope line the ropeman. The ropeman2/sterling htp needed a little bit of a break in period but once it did I've been happy with the combo this season.

Would the Kong Duck not been in spec with your lineman's belt? Or are you saying you switched FROM a ropeman 1 to a ropeman 2 so you would be in spec with the htp 9mm? I think I know the answer, just checking for the sake of clarifying readers as you and I have discussed this at length already

I switched a ropeman 2 on the lineman's belt so that I could stay in spec with the 9mm htp. I have used a duck on my tether for years now but I never used it on my linemans because it would be too noisy with all the motion.

I believe Tethrd has spliced tethers and lineman belts so it can't be the Sterling HTP because you can't splice that. I think they use the predator rope.

That makes me feel better about not going out to buy 2 ducks, lol, thanks!

Just to clear this up since it was pushed to the last page and I have seen several members state it. This is a quote from Greg

"The rope is not Samson Predator.

Predator rope is a 6k lb double braid camo climbing rope. Our rope is a 6k lb double braid camo climbing rope. However getting Predator factory spliced would have cost nearly DOUBLE the price.

We dropped the brand name but kept the strength. We all end up with a better product for a better price."

Can someone with more experience in this area tell me why ultra tech is not spliceable. I spliced mine before the season using the same directions for double braid dyennma core poly cover. I believe that is what predator is. What’s the difference?

I read its splicable on Samson website, who said it's not splicable?

Is available with a naked eye splice where just the core is spliced. There are different classes of splices I forget what that one is. For some reason it’s not in the same class as predator rope where you bury the shealth also, which is what I did with my ultra tech, seems no different than predator just wondering what the difference is.

Got a pic of your splice and a link to what you followed? I have a bunch of ultra tech and might like to try it over the winter.
