I have a sling shot and fishing weights just haven't tried it, figured I needed a cheap fishing reel for the line, need to mess around with it

It's on my "things to try" list. Read about it in an oooooold thread here. Do you use a fishing weight?
I’m just getting into it myself. I’ve seen videos of guys using large launcher type slings for going really high but I’m hoping a wrist rocket will be able to shoot a through bag up 50’ without to much problem. There’s be the snap of the sling shot but I figure a quick noise is preferable to thoughing and missing a few times and all the movement that would go along with that. If a bag doesn’t shot well I don’t see why a lead fishing weight wouldn’t work in its place.

I need to play around, I like the idea just not sure about tangles and pulling up anything with the fishing line, I use my 550 cord to pull up my bow and my SRT line for my pack. Might not be too bad with gloves.

Rope walking is very efficient and taxes the body minimally. Getting a line in the tree is definitely an acquired skill. This year I hunted some preset locations and I ascended to climbing height in probably less than 2 minutes. I am a rope wrench user and really like to use a hitch over mechanicals but for my one stick method I use a Madrock Safeguard as my ascender/descended device and my tree tether/ climbing line adjustment tool.

My cheapo sling shot definitely can’t launch a 12 oz throw bag anywhere. I think the guy in that video settled on something between 1-2 oz

When I want to shoot my 14 oz throw weight really high I use my pneumatic launcher.

Thanks for the info! Is a 1-2oz weight enough to pull a throw line or are you using a braided fishing line?

I was looking at the Maillon Rapide Delta Link for the cinch. Is there a certain size that I need to get? They all look to be rated plenty high and I'd like to get as small as possible, but I'd rather be safe than sorry
