Is this possible? This is my first season rappelling and I haven’t had any luck getting my line back with limbs on the tree. It doesn’t seem like it can be done with my setup having two prusiks on the line.

I new to the saddle but not new to rappelling, why would you have 2 prussics for a rappell? I can see one for the "brake strand" not sure where the 2nd one fits in & after you reach the ground the prussics would be removed to pull the "clean" rope out of the tree. Maybe I am missing something & somebody else can give some insight.

I guess your need toale sure your routs down is direct and not windy around the branches

I have two because the rope doubles as my tether. I guess that’s the solution... pretty obvious. Maybe it is finally time I beak down and buy a ropeman or two.

Ok rope is your tether. Attach ATC,Gri Gri ,munter etc to . put prussic/autoblock on brake strand (for safety) remove your other attachment points to rope , slide down rope.Remove rappell device & autoblock.Pull clean rope from tree. I'm not really sure how an extra ropeman is going to help you.

I know what's happening and I had the same issue. Instead of cinching the rope at the top of the tree. Bring the rope all the way back down to he ground level. Wrap it around the truck and tie it off at the base. When you rappel down undo the rope at the base and pull it back up and down to you.

It’s a pain dressing those prusiks every time. That is why I don’t want to take them off. I was thinking a ropeman would be easier install/remove than a 8mm prusik. Buy I have never used one.

I like your solution but that is a lot of rope and more weight.

This is an option, but not necessary.

Can you post a photo of your set up so we can see what you are doing? There are lots of threads on how to do this so you must be doing something different. Are you sure you're doing SRT? Basically you hook the rope around the tree at hunting height and attach some second rope such as paracord to your screw link while you are at the top. When you get to the bottom you pull the paracord which will pull the screw link and you just pull the entire setup down. Having lots of limbs on the tree really shouldn't affect this much.

Red,

But if you leave a prusik in the way, you can't pull the rope all the way through. I think that's what he is saying

Good call. That didn't click for me. Probably because I have only hung on a prussik once lol.

Yes, I was leaving the prusik on. I use 8mm rope for them and it’s a pain to reinstall them. It is very stiff. Maybe there is a better and faster option for prusiks.

Use an auto block instead of a prussik.
